Overnite delivery and a belated Happy New Year

If I hear “at least you got the worst over early in the year” one more time…..well, suffice it to say, it won’t bode well for anyone saying it. Overnite delivery turned into a five day funfest. I made ATT track my router every single day until it was delivered. As I explained to customer service, since I had no way to track the delivery they would have to do it for me. So, by 7:00 PM yesterday it finally got to its designation and was installed. The good news, ATT waived the delivery fee. Of course there has to be other issues, linking everyone’s ‘stuff’ to the router, which took some time. I never realized until yesterday all the ‘stuff’ that is WI-FI in this house. Glad to be back to relative normalcy and peace and to be able to wish all of you a Happy New Year!……finally. I wish all of you the best in the New Year. I know there is a lot to overcome on occasion, but keep giving the best you have and it will turn around. Be patient, I have some catching up to do.

Let’s talk about ‘leverage’. Harry Reid was so ticked off about the concessions suggested to him by teh WON, he Threw Obama Fiscal Cliff Proposal Into Burning Fireplace, then sent a message to McConnell that their last offer stands. Enter Joey B., the leverage guy.

Perhaps the most important concession he wrangled from the administration, which Reid had been unwilling to make, was a two-month extension of the sequester, automatic cuts to defense spending and domestic programs that were supposed to be triggered Jan. 1. Reid wanted much more, worried that the two-month period will simply set up another colossal showdown that will also rope in the debt ceiling and funding for the government. “The deal itself is OK, but sets up Democrats for [a] worse fight and strengthens Republicans’ hand for what they really want: cuts,” said a Democratic source close to Reid. “Biden gave away the store on timeline. Two months and we’re back at this and in worse shape.”

Because they will have zero leverage to get what they want. The appropriations committee should hold up on everything, except the bills necessary to be paid, until the Progs in the Senate stop their obstructionist governing style, write a budget with some fiscal sanity in it and, grow up.

I feel so very badly for the people affected by the latest hurricane/perfect storm. The greedy in the Senate brought relief to a halt by loading up the emergency relief bill with pork.  You won’t believe who was the biggest beneficiaries of the pork (Harry Reid was delighted) Hypocritical? You betcha! Forbes has the inside

Why, you might ask, would the Senate be packing billions of taxpayer dollars for these areas of the country that are nowhere near the devastation brought about by superstorm Sandy into a bill designed to bring relief to those suffering from the storm that ripped the northeastern part of the nation?

The answer can be found in a quick review of the states that are set to benefit from the Senate’s extra-special benevolence—states including Alabama, Mississippi, Texas and Louisiana.

What, you may ask, do these states far from New York and New Jersey have in common?

Each is not only a red state, but each of these states are represented by two Republican senators—with the exception of Louisiana with its one GOP senator.

And what happens when you buy off seven Republican senators with a package of goodies under the guise of storm relief supposedly meant to benefit two blue states?

You get yourself a filibuster proof piece of legislation.

Coincidence? Not at all. We know this because Harry Reid told us so in press conference held on December 20, a time when everyone’s attention was so glued to the fiscal cliff drama that any talk of any other bills was completely lost in the wind.

If you want a look at what 7 million of your tax dollars pays for when teh WONS are on paycayshun, US News has some great pics of their HA digs.

Each  U.S. president has found his own way to unwind from the stresses of  leading the free world, including Harry Truman, who once called the  White House the “crown jewel of the federal penal system” because he  felt so confined there. Ronald Reagan and George W. Bush both escaped to  ranches out west. [ed note-their own homes]

But Obama prefers to spend the holidays  at lavish rented estates in his former home state of Hawaii, where he  plays golf, works out at the nearby Marine Corps base, and spends time  with wife Michelle and daughters Sasha and Malia on the beach.

Their own home is just not good enough for teh WONS. Isn’t it a bit hypocritical to tell all of us to ‘forego that trip or vacation’ while they live in taxpayer splendor?BO swim

  1. If you think the ‘fiscal cliff’ deal was a win for Dems, think again. From a different perspective;

Welcome back. The last time I had an “overnight” delivery it took 4 days. 4 days WITHOUT MY TV! By the third day, I had discovered all those interesting books that I’ve been meaning to read and now find myself alloting reading time with TV time. Good thing, huh?

This is going to be a long, long four years for all of us. I feel like we’re being attacked by our own government from our paychecks to our guns to our rights.
I look to my Grandchildren and wonder what their world will be, they’re so clueless and happy now, but bad things are coming.

    • Thanks….
Overnite delivery isn’t what it used to be… :D
Tee Vee I can live without but not books.
I still have hope for a brighter future, for kids and grandkids. After another four years, no one will want to vote for a Dem or Prog for a long time.

Lynn II I hope the Dim-o-cat Party folds and then renews itself to a party that moves away from the extreme left and towards one that becomes fiscally responsible without a empty suit president and a clothes hog vacay first lady.

    • The ‘new breed’ Dems are a pathetic lot.

  4. Welcome back Lynn II, and Happy New Year! I am glad you got your router troubles fixed. AT&T can be a pain in the ass, but if you really pressure them, call them all the time, DOCUMENT every time/person/the time of day you called/etc, I have found that you will end up getting good customer service. Actually, on the topic of documentation, I find that I document everything when I call any business, etc. It has saved me on several occasions from being given poor customer service/not getting the proper and right treatment. Anyway, I digress….glad to have you back. I wish you too an awesome year filled with many wonderful blessings.

    • Thanks…and a awesome New Year to you too :D

  5. Speaking of awesome……some of the left have finally figured out the world really is round….
Trending on Twitchy #WhyIsMyPaycheckLessThisWeek…of course the more conservative do understand why…..low informed voters are still puzzled.. :D

    • Waiting for 2012

An I plan to take every opputunity to remind them who is to blame. I estimate that this ending of the tax cuts will cost me an additional $800+ per year. And wait until the taxes on Obamacare start. I should start saving those dog food coupons now…

        Sorry! “And” and “opportunity”!

  6. The Senate is the main culprit in dysfunctional government we have….BO is as well, but the Senate is really the main culprit. Backroom dealings in the dead of night, no transparency, no budget…..corruption and crony capitalism are their mainstays…our ‘betters’ are nothing more than crooks and deadbeats.

“This wasn’t the first time the Senate behaved this way. In fact it’s the third year in a row the Senate refused to act until the last minute before ultimately jamming its own vision on taxes and spending through a House up against a hard deadline. They have effectively cut the American people out of the process by replacing open debate and amendment with secret backroom negotiations.

This same Senate has not even passed a budget in nearly four years. Under Harry Reid, the Senate has elevated doing nothing until the night before each crisis deadline to an art form.”

After two days and four games, I’m football-ed out.
Tonight…Downton Abbey…oh, I can hardly wait. Love that show. The Good Wife, yea.

I had a nice day, didn’t listen to one politician, right or left, not one news show and it was a relief. Tomorrow is another day, but today will be all entertainment.
