Quotes and quibbles

Boehner: “Sometimes I have to catch my breath and slow down because the rhetoric in this campaign is just so over the top. And that’s because the President’s policies have failed. Listen — 93% of Americans believe they’re a part of the middle class. That’s why you hear the President talk about the middle class every day, because he’s talking to 93% of the American people. But the President has never created a job. He’s never even had a real job for [God’s] sake. And I can tell you from my dealings with him, he has no idea how the real world, that we actually live in, works.

From community organizing to the Senate to the Presidency, there hasn’t been much he has had to work for or actually earn. From what history we know about, there isn’t much about BO doing any actual work. Even in his short stint in the Senate, not one bill with his name on it was ever introduced.

“Well, it’s time for Harry to put up or shut up,” Romney said. “Harry’s going to have to describe who it is he spoke with because of course, that’s totally and completely wrong.”

Romney added: “It’s untrue, dishonest, and inaccurate. It’s wrong. So I’m looking forward to have Harry reveal his sources and we’ll probably find out it’s the White House. Look, the Obama campaign is going to do everything in its power to try and talk about anything besides the president’s record.”

Reid says the American people want to know about all those years of tax returns. He lies, none of us really care. It’s Reid and the White House trying to deflect from BO’s dismal record and policies.  Romney paid almost 3 million in taxes, and like everyone, took allowable deductions. Romney didn’t “invest” using insider information nor did he manipulate to get stimulus money pushed to banks and businesses he owned or was invested in. Can the Senator say the same thing about the members of Congress?

The U.S. economy closed out an otherwise weak second quarter by creating more jobs than expected, with 163,000 new positions added, but the unemployment rate rose to 8.3 percent…….[snip]

As the country struggles to gain growth traction, the unemployment rate held above 8 percent for the 41st consecutive month, according to the latest report from the Bureau of Labor Statistics…..[snip]

Despite the seemingly good news, the report’s household showed that the actual amount of Americans working dropped by 195,000, with the net job gain resulting primarily from seasonal adjustments in the establishment survey. The birth-death model, which approximates net job growth from newly added or closed businesses, added 52,000 to the total.

Good news? They have the nerve to call this good news? I have news for Congress and this idiotic bunch in the White House, stop regulating us to death, taxing us to death and, get out of our way, we the people can turn this around. We create the jobs that bolster the economy. Stop trying to fix it, you can’t. You are just making a bigger mess for us to clean up and, we are getting mighty tired of cleaning up after you infantile people all the time. Stop trying to micro manage our lives and everything we do. Do something more in line with your jobs like simplifying the tax codes, or tort reform, cutting the size of government, spending cuts, deficit reduction, medicare and medicaid reform. Do something about the real problems this country faces, for once.  We would love it if you just stopped being so mindnumbingly stupid.

Gabby Douglas and her win gives me more hope for this country’s kids then I have had in a long time. The first young black woman to win a Gold Medal in the women’s all around gymnastics. Can it get any better than that?

[…]”She very much reminded me of one of the other great athletes of my coaching career,” Bela Karolyi, the legendary coach, said after.

“Nadia,” Karolyi said, smiling at the memory of Nadia Comaneci, who won all-around gold at the 1976 Games with a series of perfect 10s.

The first African American all-around champion reminds him of that lithe, 14-year-old Romanian?

“Same little skinny thing,” Karoyli said. “Don’t care about nothing. In that arena they were rooting for the Russians like crazy, but no one could touch [Nadia]. Gabby is the prototype, with no experience, with no hesitations, just going out there with no second thoughts and just performing.”[…]

  3. More on the Religion of Peace

“Sunni Muslim ‘Extremists’ Committed 70% of Terrorist Murders in 2011”

    • and it all comes out of Saudi Arabia…supported by wealthy Saudis….the biggest problem in Iraq was the Sunni/Shiite get even..the biggest problems all over the world are caused by both groups…it’s a big fight between the Saudi and Iranian Gov to see who will dominate in the Muslim world. This has been ongoing for centuries. Everyone else is caught up in their mess.

  4. when it comes to tax cheats, the MSM avoided Rangel, Geithner…..have they even mentioned the land deals, banking deals and insider trading of members of Congress? Reid lives in a glass house he should be careful of the stones he’s throwing out there.

    • Carole

Nutty Nanny needs to be careful also. She has made millions off insider trading to get Obamacare passed. Her husband has made millions off of government contracts, many of which he did not carry through, butt made big profits from them.

  5. when the DCCC starts smearing anyone, Sheldon Adelson, they better remember he has ooodles of money and great lawyers and will kick their collective a**es.

[…]“In press statements issued on June 29 and July 2, 2012, the DCCC made unsubstantiated allegations that attacked Sheldon Adelson, a supporter of the opposing party. This was wrong. The statements were untrue and unfair and we retract them,” the DCCC wrote. “The DCCC extends its sincere apology to Mr. Adelson and his family for any injury we have caused.”
The statement is an attempt by the Democratic party committee to try and make a potential defamation lawsuit go away.[…]

  6. Congressional lawmakers being “stalked” as they go about their personal business (mostly R-words)
[…]Reps. Reid Ribble (R-Wis.) said he and Dennis Kucinich (D-Ohio), the authors, had collected around 50 signatures — about 35 Republicans and 15 Democrats — as of Wednesday night for the missive. It came in response to a POLITICO story last month that revealed Democratic trackers have been filming the homes of Republican members and candidates and placing the raw footage on YouTube.

Members called the tactic a gross invasion of privacy. And they said it created a safety risk for them and their families at a time when they are already on edge after a deranged gunman shot former Arizona Democratic Rep. Gabrielle Giffords in January 2011.

In June, a 38-second clip of Ribble’s northeastern Wisconsin home appeared online. The soundless video, which appears to be taken from a car sitting just outside the house, pans across the large home and shows it from several angles.[…]

Is there a problem with the blog today? I put two things on here and neither of them are showing.

There is great stuff about Team Obama today on Michelle’s Mirror.

    • for some reason you were in pending….

I’ve been surveyed, polled, whatever, 12 times in the last 5 weeks for my political opinions.
Does anyone else get called or know of others who are polled by phone like this?

It makes me wonder if the polling organizations just call the same people over and over.
I’ve never read that anyone else is getting polled, much less multiple times.

    • The Original

Since I moved out of Seattle, I have only been polled one time.

    • I’m a regisered R person. I’ve never been polled…and I have a land-line.

    • Francine

I have been called multiple times in the past 3 months, both cell and land line.

      • srdem65

So far it’s just you and I, Francine, but it looks like they DO keep calling the same people. Depending on my mood, I say “MrObama is my choice and MrRomney is a snake” Or…..MrRomney is my choice and MrObama is a snake”. Who knows what they make of my answers.
I think other people lie or give different answers, too., especially when the callers use your name and know where you live.
        just sayin’

    • I haven’t been polled lately, stopped answering the phone unless I recognize the number.

      • Hollydolly

Me too. When caller id says ‘out of area’ or ‘unavailable’ I don’t pick up. I get these calls 2 or 3 times a day every day. I may start answering just out of curiosity.

  9. another big fizzle by the left…buycotts work much better than boycotts.

  10. sportinlife10

I read somewhere that Breibart’s BIG sites would have a major announcement today – don’t see it yet.
It does make me wonder anew, though, how they “got” Andrew Breitbart. That Heart Attack was just too sudden, too convenient, and completely out of reach, somehow, for any Emergency treatment.
And that makes me wonder how “they got to” John Roberts, at SCOTUS. Because they did.

    • Hollydolly

Have been surfing around looking for that too. So far haven’t found anything.

  11. You know the second housing tsunami is coming…Dems are getting frantic about cutting principle for homeowners (of course it will be the taxpayers who lose)

[…]The debate over the FHFA’s approach to foreclosure prevention has swirled practically since the agency was created to oversee the taxpayer bailout of Fannie and Freddie in 2008.

DeMarco maintains that his focus on lowering monthly payments without principal forgiveness strikes the right balance between helping homeowners, protecting taxpayers and avoiding moral hazard — a position he reiterated on Tuesday.

“After extensive analysis … FHFA has concluded that the anticipated benefits [of principal reduction] do not outweigh the costs and risks,” DeMarco said in a statement. “Given our multiple responsibilities to conserve the assets of Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, maximize assistance to homeowners to avoid foreclosures, and minimize the expense of such assistance to taxpayers, FHFA concluded that [principal reduction] did not clearly improve foreclosure avoidance while reducing costs to taxpayers relative to the approaches in place today.”[…]

  12. There are good economics then there is Obamanomics…
“A new analysis of Mr. Obama’s budget reveals the president’s plan would add $10.6 trillion in debt accumulation over the next decade, bringing the U.S. federal debt to a jaw-dropping $25.4 trillion.”

  13. Has anyone else had a problem with Weasel Zippers today? I was on, and suddenly the window closed and a pop-up virus alert appeared, with a “clean computer now” prompt. The address was I checked my McAfee, and I’m clean. I know Zip was hacked earlier this week…again?

    • Sounds like you’re being redirected to a site…don’t fall for it

      • Yep…and I noticed you’ve upgraded the nest’s security. Thanks for all you do!

    • The Original

That happened to me as well. I just ran MS security and the virus had been trapped. It was something attached to WZ.

By the way, MS Security Essentials is a very good for a free security system. My brother who heads IT in a school district recommended it to me. I have been pleased with it.

  14. Uh oh BO in big time trouble with Liberal Dems over sequestration…

Jobs, and his own re-election, were on Mr. Brown’s tortured mind this week, when he publicly called on the president to do something about Defense Department cuts that threaten to shutter his state’s Mansfield Lahm Air National Guard Base—and with it, 1,000 jobs. The cuts might be “penny wise,” griped the senator, but they were “pound foolish.”

That was the rebuke that greeted Mr. Obama as he landed in Mansfield for a campaign stop. An editorial in the Mansfield News Journal demanded that the president “explain to the people of Mansfield why the U.S. government wants to eliminate” their jobs and base. A colonel in the local Ohio Air National Guard parked C-27J aircraft (up for elimination) on the tarmac, so Mr. Obama had to see them as Air Force One landed.

As targeted campaign events in swing states go, this was a local bust. Now imagine Mansfield, only bigger, in cities and towns across the country, and you start to see Mr. Obama’s problem.

    • didn’t know that did you….the LSM is so devious….and, they’re polling the Dems at +19…he’s in bad shape and big trouble…not that you would know it by the media spin.

  15. Breaking Announcement: “Occupy the Truth” March For Peace & Justice Set For Cleveland, Ohio……

“Today, Filmmaker Andrew Marcus, Director of the upcoming documentary Hating Breitbart and Jim Hoft of Gateway Pundit announced a Tea Party protest against the dishonest coverage and cover-up by the media of the attempted terrorist bombings planned by members of Occupy Cleveland. The event will be held on August 18th at Willard Park/Freestamp Plaza in Cleveland, Ohio near the site of the planned bombings. A march for truth and justice is planned.

Marcus explains, “On May 1st, 2012, the FBI announced that members of Occupy Cleveland were arrested for attempting several acts of terrorism, including the detonation of what they thought was an explosive device in an effort to destroy the Cuyahoga Valley bridge, as well as an attack on the Federal Reserve Bank. And yet when the Mainstream Media reported on this planned act of domestic terrorism, they whitewashed both the severity of the charges and the open links to Occupy, a movement endorsed by many in the Democrat party. This planned act of violence should not be parsed by the media for the sake of politics. Americans should be able to trust that when their lives are at stake, safety trumps politics. This is yet another example of the media’s shocking politicization and malpractice. This is too important to be pushed aside. We’re not going to let them get away with it any more. ”

    Oh boy….

    • Hollydolly

This must be the announcement. Thanks Lynn. And yes…oh boy….

Absurd racial charges against NBC; right after GabbyDouglas recieved her gold medal, the network played a commercial showing a monkey on a gym apparatus. Racist?
They also showed a zombie/skeleton using a gym appartus, too. Dumb? Funny?

What a sorry world we live in where every group finds fault with just about anything.

  19. Francine

The ‘honour killing’ trial of teenager Shafila Ahmed has ended with both parents being found guilty of her murder in 2003.
The publicity it has generated may well prove to be a turning point in what has been a largely hidden problem in multi-cultural UK. The judge’s statement – for once – was to the point.
“You wanted your family to live in Pakistan in Warrington. Although she went to local schools, you objected to her socialising with girls from what has been referred to as the white community.
“You objected to her wearing western clothes and you objected to her having contact with boys. She was being squeezed between two cultures, the culture and way of life that she saw around her and wanted to embrace, and the culture and way of life you wanted to impose on her.”
“A desire that she understood and appreciated the cultural heritage from which she came is perfectly understandable, but an expectation that she live in a sealed cultural environment separate from the culture of the country in which she lived was unrealistic, destructive and cruel.”

    • srdem65

How true. We had a similar killing here in Phoenix. I don’t know why they even move to the US. I certainly wouldn’t move to an Islamic country and expect to live like a normal American.

      • Francine

Well, any Islamic country would never let us live like we do here. Basic and horrific abuses of human rights have been ignored in the west because of misplaced cultural sensitivity and political correctness. We must do everything in our power to not undermine our laws because of that.

  20. Francine

Well, this is disturbing, first I have heard anything like it:

Experts on a panel assembled by Florida-based The United West have warned that the aftermath of an EMP (Electromagnetic Pulse) attack would be devastating on the United States, with up to 90 percent of the population dead or dying.

    • srdem65

That’s really scary. It seems that with every advance in medicine that enhances our lives, someone finds some way to kill us more efficiently.
However, I’m not going to lose any sleep over it, there are too many scary things already happening.

  21. srdem65

OT: another horrible shooting in Wisconsin

Prayers to the families and friends of those killed and injured. Just terrible to shoot people at random (not that..well you know) especially in their house of worship.
As for the shooter; I predict that he is a current or former member of that religion and had a reason for what he did. When the police don’t tell us who he is when they know where he lives, it has to be a member of the Sikh community.
If he was a wacko nutcase who didn’t like men with tubans, we would have already heard about him being a….right-wing militia member….a tea party nusto racist….
