Romney was right

The LSM all fell in line again yesterday. Their narrative, while ‘reporting’ on the unconscionable acts of terrorism, centered around Mitt Romney. Instead of scrutinizing Obama’s handling of a foreign policy crisis, the media has decided that the real story in Egypt and Libya is a Mitt Romney gaffe. The pious leftist bilge over Romney’s statement doesn’t wash. No, we should not apologize when we are attacked by people whose 9th century thinking is setting the world on fire. I am grateful to Mitt Romney for making a statement in support of our country. I am tired of the apologetic Obama and his bungling of foreign policy. He has put us in the middle of a Sunni/Shiite fight that has been going on for centuries. The Mullahs of Iran are very happy with him as President. Obama lost Iraq to Tehren because of his lack of ability to negotiate and sending Biden to do the job he should have done.  While the LSM colludes to take Romney down, may I remind everyone of Obama using the deaths of 9 servicemen in Afghanistan as a political talking point in 2008 while running for office.

You know, was it a wise thing to go in there (Iraq) and what are the costs and benefits of staying there indefinitely? We’re spending $10 billion a month there. We’ve spent $200 billion since the surge began. Meanwhile, the situation where—you know, where the central front against terrorism should be taking place, in Afghanistan, the situation has deteriorated. And we had this brazen attack on a U.S. base where nine servicemen were killed.

If you have any doubt about the LSM being in bed with Obama and using their power of the press as a political tool for his benefit, this should dispel that quickly.

Before Romney issued his statement today, an open mic capture the press coordinating questions to ask Romney, with one saying “no matter who he calls on we’re covered on the one question”.

After having to disavow a statement of apology from his own embassy staff, Obama accuses Romney of “shooting first, then aiming”. When it comes to foreign policy that is Obama’s ground game, the ‘Arab Spring’ is absolute proof of that. While we are in the middle of a crisis Obama parties and plays in Vegas. It is my honest belief no other President of the past would be doing that. Not one of them, neither Democrat or Republican. His lack of foresight to protect our Embassies on 9/11, instead of campaigning and partying, is a direct cause of the deaths of those Americans. After the Embassy is burned, after the deaths of Americans just doing their jobs to try and make a better world, Obama decides the Marines should go in. He is AWOL in thought and deed when it comes to governing. Obama’s foreign policy is making the world a much more dangerous place and making the US look weak and fragile. What the left doesn’t seem to understand is, the death of even one American at the hands of terrorists is an outrage to us all. Why are we apologizing for their acts of insanity?

The idea that a submissive-sounding president could set things right in the
Muslim world always struck us as far-fetched. Yesterday’s events render it
indefensible. This looks like the end of the “New Beginning.”

Who’s in charge? Obama. Why has he missed over 50% of his intelligence briefings? Campaigning is more important. Why hasn’t Obama dealt with the problems with State Department Security after the negative report about security contractors and their vetting and hiring practises? He’s too busy campaigning. Can we really afford to let Obama have a second term in office? The answer is no.

open thread….

  1. If I’ve got it straight, here’s the actual order of events: 1) U.S. diplomats in Cairo shamefully apologize more or less preemptively for private U.S. citizens exercising their First Amendment rights in a way that “hurts the religious feelings” of Muslims. 2) “Protests” intensify into attacks on embassy in Cairo and consulate in Benghazi. 3) Romney calls Cairo embassy response disgraceful. 4) Reports of murders of Americans in Benghazi confirmed. 5) Obama administration disavows Cairo embassy line. 6) Obama campaign flack LaBolt shames Romney for politicizing murders.

But the instant narrative from the media is that Romney “jumped the gun,” that he has used the death of Americans as a campaign prop and broken the sacred rule that “politics stops at the water’s edge.” Except that’s not what happened at all. Cairo jumped the gun on its controllers in Washington, and by the time Cairo’s disgraceful response filtered out into the media ether it was being rendered more disgraceful still by the violent turn the protests took, and Romney rightly condemned it as disgraceful. The Obama administration then caught up to Romney and muzzled Cairo. So how is Romney the one with the bad messaging here?”

    Nuff said…Romney was right

    • Any truth to the rumor that security was relaxed at our embassies in the weeks preceeding the attacks?

      • There was no “security”…. intelligence briefing in the last two weeks contained a report concerning the lax security and the vetting process of private contractors at the embassies. There were even concerns they were hiring Taliban to guard the consulates in Afghanistan. IMHO, Marines should be on guard at all our embassies and consulates in the ME, not private contractors.

        • NYC Board of Health bans large sodas, 8-1. Glad they’re taking care of the important things.

          • Not sure why this appeared up here. Hmmm…

      • Also in the report was a question about how “underfunded” the State Dept security is in the era of Obama. All of it would have been known by BO if he bothered to show up. Why the hell hire private contractors when we have military to do the job of guarding embassies. All this has been going on since 2010 according to the report.

  2. “Mitt Romney filled the void on behalf of the First Amendment, refused to shy away from American first principles, and excoriated the embassy’s posture (the White House eventually did the same). … Nevertheless, the insta-narrative is that Romney “jumped the gun” by “politicizing” the tragedy in Libya. He did nothing of the sort. … The media is blaming Romney for capitalizing politically on deaths that he *did not know about* when he released a (generally strong) repudiation of our Cairo embassy’s reactions to a *different event.* They’d criticize him for any action he took here, unless it involved essentially applauding and agreeing with everything the Obama administration has done, then sitting quietly in a corner.”

Romney said exactly what Obama should have said…but BO didn’t say it. That is what has the LSM upset, not Romney. Another distraction from a failed President and failed policies.

The congressionally chartered Commission on Wartime Contracting issued a strong warning in 2009, saying the State Department’s reliance on lowest-priced contractors was jeopardizing security.

“Lowest-priced security not good enough for war-zone embassies,” the commission wrote in a stinging report that urged other factors such as capability be considered in awarding security contracts.

The State Department inspector general highlighted the gaps in some private security firms’ capabilities with investigations of the war-time security postures in Iraq and Afghanistan

    • Ambassador to Egypt Anne Patterson “did not permit U.S. Marine guards to carry live ammunition,” according to multiple reports on U.S. Marine Corps blogs spotted by Nightwatch. “She neutralized any U.S. military capability that was dedicated to preserve her life and protect the US Embassy.”

      • the Religion of the Perpetually Outraged will be sooo happy to hear that…

  4. and this….

The State Department took several corrective actions and subsequently selected a new contractor to take over the Afghan’s embassy’s security.

But that selection quickly created new controversy when the Senate Armed Services Committee issued a report finding that the contractor had relied on warlords with possible ties to the Taliban to staff its security forces.

The inspector general recently concluded that the State Department’s vetting of the contractor met federal regulations but somehow failed to uncovered the information found by Senate investigators.

“The Department was not aware of the selected contractor’s past performance, as reported by the Senate Armed Services Committee, until after the report was publicly released in October 2010, which was after the contract and the task order had been awarded. OIG also determined that the Department had used the proper systems to obtain,” the IG reported.

The Project on Government Oversight, a nonpartisan watchdog group that focuses on contracting, has raised repeated concerns about the contracting of embassy security operations and last year urged that the task in volatile region be in-sourced to State Department employees. The group specifically cited the Afghan situation.

“If there’s a better argument for making this mission an inherently governmental function, this situation is it,” POGO’s executive director Danielle Brian said in 2011. “We’ve got one discredited company to be replaced by another discredited company.”

  5. and I will say it again….it won’t be the Indies who take Obama down…it will be Democrats.
Don’t doubt this for one minute. Funny how they are just noticing what has been evident all along.

While many in the media appear unable to locate a copy of their job description, help is on the way. Every political journalist should watch “The Hope and the Change” produced by Citizens United upon its release next week. Why? Because they actually talk to the Democrats who voted for Obama in 2008 in some key battleground states but are now bitterly disappointed after four years. Political reporters don’t seem interested in listening to these voters and even pretend they don’t exist. Yet it’s these voters who are going to make Decision 2012.

    • He’s not out of whack, it’s who he is, no doubt about it now.

  6. More “revised upward” …so “unexpectedly”

[…]In a separate report, a sharp rise in gasoline costs drove up wholesale prices last month by the most in more than three years. But outside energy and food, price gains were mild.

Initial claims for state unemployment benefits rose 15,000 to a seasonally adjusted 382,000, the highest in two months, the Labor Department said on Thursday. The prior week’s figure was revised up to show 2,000 more applications than previously reported.

Economists polled by Reuters had forecast claims rising to 370,000 last week.[…]

  7. “In the past, protests have broken out over perceived insults to Islam from the West, but in Arab countries they never escalated to the degree of breaching embassies, suggesting now Islamists feel they can act with impunity.”
Read that sentence again very carefully…now tell me the apologies are the right thing to do….Obama leading from behind is nothing more than a quisling.

  8. “Barack Obama’s assertion that he doesn’t consider Egypt an ally stunned NBC’s chief foreign correspondent Richard Engel. Engel, reporting from Cairo, tells Chuck Todd that he needed to “sit down” after hearing that statement. Engel reminds Todd that the US had two major Arab allies in the region when Obama took office, on which it spent a significant amount of foreign aid to keep it that way — Egypt and Saudi Arabia. If we’ve lost Egypt as an ally, Engel asks, wasn’t supporting the effort to overthrow Hosni Mubarak a huge mistake?”

The answer is yes, it was a huge mistake!

  9. Israeli sources have revealed that Egypt’s General Intelligence warned jihadists were planning attacks on U.S. and Israeli embassies as early as a week before they occurred on the anniversary of Al Qaeda’s 9/11 terror attacks.

The report indicated that the group behind the attacks was Global Jihad. This group is now supsected in the deaths of 16 Egyptian border guards in Sinai — deaths for which some Egyptian officials originally blamed Israel.

A letter from Egyptian intelligence warning of pending attacks was circulated to all Egyptian security posts on September 4th.

U.S. President Barack Obama has not attended a daily intelligence briefing since September 5th.

  10. Are any of the actions or “inactions” by the pRez treasonable offenses? This is going from bad to worse exponentially fast.

  11. I can’t remember when I have been so pissed off…or despised a government so much.

    • You are not alone. The American people do not trust the Government. They do not feel valued by our government. How can we? We’ve been betrayed by people who swore an oath to protect the Constitution, and then trampled it.

  12. Carole

It seems that obsity is a national threat to our security according to Mooch. Gee I thought what is going on right now in Egypt and Libya should be the focus of national scurity?

    • Just so MO knows, economists have stated time and again in the last few years that DEBT is our greatest national threat. If we don’t get that under control, we don’t stand a chance of fighting anything else. Today’s (predictable) announcement by Bernanke did not help the situation at all.

    • My sweet little bleeding heart liberal 16 year old is now learning a lesson. She is hopping mad at MO. She took her french fries away from the school lunch menu…. LOL 😀
      I do believe she’s now a convert…
She said “She (MO) eats french fries all the time. Why can’t I eat them? I’m a size 4, she’s a cow.” All I could do is laugh.

      • srdem65

Give her a hug from me. We all know it’s not what you eat, but how much of it you eat.
All things in moderation. A handful of french fries is not going to make anyone fat.

        • srdem65

Sorry, I also meant to remind everyone that NYC now has a ban on the supersized drinks. I’m wondering now if NewYorkers will fill their allowed 16oz cups with cola and ask for another cup for the ice?

          • Well, Americans are a creative thinking bunch. A lot of the quick food places let you serve yourself your own drinks….

      • Carole

        Bravo for her!!!!!

        • Indeed! I was going to tell her to organize a protest since everyone seems to be protesting something or other….but, I’ll let them discover that for themselves. 😉

  13. Kirsten Powers thinks the LSM is obssessing over Romney…slams Obama administration LOL 😀 …good for her! Honesty!

  14. The left never learns…. not ever…chain themselves to construction equipment to stop the Keystone pipeline…

  15. Carole

The Whistleblower is right on about Obama!!

  16. The Original

I just hope that not one more person gets hurt while Obama and our State Department twiddle their thumbs. This whole mess lies at the feet of Hillary Clinton and Obama. They own this mess. They cannot blame anyone else.

So help me . . . we better have President-Elect Romney on November 7 after all this mess.

    • Prayers are ending, we’ll see.

  17. Thought you might enjoy this article about a restaurant down the street from my office. Happy Friday, fellow nesters!

  18. Take note, MO. This is how you dress to visit a mosque when you are on a goodwill tour.–wears-veil-attire-like-Princess-Diana-did.html
