Finding a conscience?

FOX News has been doing the heavy lifting investigating Benghazi. Seems one of the alphabet channels has found a conscience….CBS Sharyl Attkison

Absent coordination from Counterterrorism Security Group, a senior US counterterrorism official says the response to the crisis became more confused. The official says the FBI received a call during the attack representing Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and requesting agents be deployed. But he and his colleagues agreed the agents “would not make any difference without security and other enablers to get them in the country and synch their efforts with military and diplomatic efforts to maximize their success.”

Another senior counter terrorism official says a hostage rescue team was alternately asked to get ready and then stand down throughout the night, as officials seemed unable to make up their minds.

A third potential responder from a counter-terror force stationed in Europe says components of [AFRICOM] — the military’s Africa Command based in Stuttgart, Germany — were working on course of action during the assault. But no plan was put to use.

“Forces were positioned after the fact but not much good to those that needed it,” the military source told CBS News.

“The response process was isolated at the most senior level,” says an official referring to top officials in the executive branch. “My fellow counterterrorism professionals and I (were) not consulted.”

The official says a protocol set forth in a classified presidential directive calls for the Counterterrorism Security Group (CSG) to be convened in the event of a possible terrorist attack. According to a public military document, the directive was designed to “synchronize the efforts of all the government agencies that have a role to play in the Global War on Terrorism.”

An editorial from the Las Vegas Review-Journal says Obama not worthy to be CIC. We have known this for a few years. Particularly when he changed the ROE in the Afghan theatre. They accuse him in the strongest terms of changing one form of tyranny for another, dictators for Islamic lunatics and mullahs.

Not only did the White House do nothing, there are now reports that a counterterrorism team ready to launch a rescue mission was ordered to stand down.

The official explanation for the inadequate security? This administration didn’t want to “offend the sensibilities” of the new radical Islamic regime which American and British arms had so recently helped install in Libya.

The official explanation for why Obama administration officials watched the attack unfold for seven hours, refusing repeated requests to send the air support and relief forces that sat less than two hours away in Italy? Silence.

An open discussion of these issues, of course, would lead to difficult questions about the wisdom of underwriting and celebrating the so-called Arab Spring revolts in the first place. While the removal of tyrants can be laudable, the results show a disturbing pattern of merely installing new tyrannies – theocracies of medieval mullahs who immediately start savaging the rights of women (including the basic right to education) and who are openly hostile to American interests.

If you have no conscience, your name might be Mayor Bloomberg……hungry people with no food, water, no heat, no power but the “Marathon” must go on.  He’s diverting food, water and generators to the event. WTF!?! This is just insane……

Staten Island residents are frantically calling for help, ABC News reported on Thursday:

The residents of Staten Island are pleading for help from elected officials, begging for gasoline, food and clothing three days after Sandy slammed the New York City borough.

“We’re going to die! We’re going to freeze! We got 90-year-old people!” Donna Solli told visiting officials. “You don’t understand. You gotta get your trucks down here on the corner now. It’s been three days!”

Staten Island was one of the hardest-hit communities in New York City. More than 80,000 residents are still without power. Many are homeless, and at least 19 people died on Staten Island because of the storm.

Those generators could be used at gas stations without power to pump gas. FEMA and the Red Cross have not shown up and the red tape is still in place. Non-union crews from Alabama have been denied entry into NJ by union crews, Unions take priority over people in dire need. Some of the non-union crews have turned around and headed back home. Where’s the media and why are they not reporting on this? Restaurants owners trying their best to help out by feeding hungry people are being harassed by inspectors.  The media is politicizing this by not reporting on the looting or, the real issues affecting the people of the disaster hit areas. Police are being diverted from the hardest hit areas for a marathon? Where is the media outrage? This is what big government has done to you. We have the opportunity to make a change on Tuesday. Common sense Democrats, Republicans and Independents have to stop this insanity. Get your buns up off the couch and get out there and vote for the future of our children and our country. We deserve better than this. This is your wake up call!

  1. People on Staten Island dumpster diving for food, not homeless, but families. This is an outrage…the arrogance of the left is just appalling. This is America for godssake…not a third world country.

    • Waiting for 2012

The left certainly was vocal in their annoyance with George Bush during Katrina. At least he did something more than just a photo-op a few days before an election. What’s Obhama doing about the situation? Oh, yes, I do remember–CAMPAIGNING.

      • srdem65

        Watching a newscast interviewing some NYers for their opinions on the lack of help;
shocking! even the Black man trashed Obama. Said this is worse than Katrina.
They’re blaming the all-mighty government that promised to ‘take care’ of them.
Welcome to the right/conservative side, NewYorkers.
        .

    • My husband told me that Mercury1 got in somehow. Like him or not, Beck sets up fund drives and gets the job done.

  2. Morning Birdies!

Many of you from the old blog might remember me mentioning my co-worker “E.” (He’s the man who bravely went to the MO fundraiser to do recon for us.) A friend of his is a Thomas Jefferson impersonator and came in to the office to speak to us. It was a fun way to start our Friday, and a good reminder of how much we stand to lose if BO wins re-election. Listening to him recite from Jefferson’s letters, speeches and documents, it brought home the fact that BO does not deserve a place in history with our past Presidents. It hurts that he will always be in their company.

    • I would have loved it! Wish I had been there to see and hear it…. 🙂

  3. Over the weekend please report to all of us how your state is leaning…on the ground reports give all of us a better idea what to plan for…..There is a group of moderate Dems here who have been convinced to stop worrying about the Ds and Rs and vote for Romney…vote for energy….vote for entrepreneurship…and vote to remove the man in office who left people behind in Benghazi…I have spent time explaining the electoral college….and given this blog URL to many so they can see it’s ok to let Obama go. We do not need this kind of chaotic style of governing.

    • The Original

My state will go for Obama. It changed its character some 20 years ago when there was an influx of citizens from California. We are a very liberal state. And it does not help that the unions are very strong in the Seattle are because of Boeing.

However, we are going to get our first GOP governor in decades. We are excited about that.

      • I have never figured that out…they run to escape the high taxes but, bring the same bs ideas with them….

  4. O. M. G……3 hours before the attack the White House knew what was going to happen, Libyan militia was “gathering forces and gathering steam”….there are no words to convey my disgust with this administration.

    • srdem65

Remember the apology given two hours before the attack started? The one the WhiteHouse later said it didn’t authorize? The apology was for a video two hours before anything happened, they KNEW, they PLANNED IT, but it all went south.
Our military said they were getting ready for a hostage confrontation. Really? who did they think was going to be taken hostage?
Don’t believe the media, don’t believe the WhiteHouse. It was planned, but went bad.
Just like Fast & Furious. Exactly.

      • I am totally stunned by this bunch…Actually never thought our government would ever do something like this or Fast and Furious.

    • The Original

      Maddening, isn’t it??

    • I honestly don’t understand these people. People have no power, no food, etc. Workers from around the country are coming ON THEIR OWN to volunteer to help fellow Americans, and they are being denied b/c they aren’t union?! What ungrateful SOBs! When do you stop being partisan or union or whatever and just pull together for the common good? Seriously! I hope the good people of NJ wake up and scream at the unions and maybe, just maybe, we can have some serious real change in this country. F*$k the unions! Pardon my french, but I am so upset about this. I heard on the radio yesterday it would be the same thing as denying the out of state firefighters access to help all the fires we had in SD/CA a few years ago b/c they weren’t “union” firefighters. I guess being union matters more than helping people or restoring power, etc. OT but I saw a bumper sticker yesterday that said “Obama bin Lyin'”. I thought that couldn’t be truer…..

  5. 2800 people showed up to hear BO speak in Hilliard OH
Romney speech this afternoon in Cincinnati…expecting 15,000

    GO Romney!!

    • Annie's Mom

Listening to BO…he’ talking the economy! Bill Clinton’s economic record! 🙂

      • srdem65

I heard that, too. How really weird! It’s like “vote for me, because the last Dem did pretty good”. What a doofus campaign.

  6. Waiting for 2012

Just watched Mitt’s speech. Mighty impressive, as usual! 🙂

    • Oh, didn’t see this before I posted. I think sometimes those who chose to work in a bureaucracy become jaded. Let’s face it, all they see all the time are people whose hands are out for something. I’ve known people who were very kind, giving people become so jaded and hard after going to work for the government.
Mercury 1 charity gives because they want to, not because it’s their workaday job.

      • Our block club is busy making hats and scarves for a school we adopted. We are a country of volunteers but, aren’t often recognized by the government for this amazing quality. When working for the government it stops being personal, they no longer serve for the sake of serving. All the rules get in the way of being kind. So does the red tape.

Loved Dr. Krauthammer’s editorial today especially:
“Government grows in size and power as the individual shrinks into dependency. Until the tipping point where dependency becomes the new norm — as it is in Europe, where even minor retrenchment of the entitlement state has led to despair and, for the more energetic, rioting.

An Obama second term means that the movement toward European-style social democracy continues, in part by legislation, in part by executive decree. The American experiment — the more individualistic, energetic, innovative, risk-taking model of democratic governance — continues to recede, yielding to the supervised life of the entitlement state.

If Obama loses, however, his presidency becomes a historical parenthesis, a passing interlude of overreaching hyper-liberalism, rejected by a center-right country that is 80 percent nonliberal.”

    • Amen Dr. K!!! He is so good at getting the point across, so succinctly!

  8. I used to respect Elijah Cummings for his civil rights involvement with Dr. King…his accusations on True the Vote are totally unfounded…no one in OH is being disenfranchised….no one. Using one’s power to intimidate and lie is beyond his job description.

This is, is………..such a validation of everything we believe and I was stunned.

    • BO being called out…finally. Having a conscience is a good thing. Being conscious of that is even better…

  10. Link to Beck’s charity……every single dollar is going to the people….

    http://www.mercuryone.org/

    • Thank you. I should have thought of that, I had mistakenly assumed everyone tunes into Beck.
I’m surprised NY fell so fast into decay. People are eating out of the dumpsters and defecating in apartments. Hurricane Ike took us out for two weeks, and we had an idealic step back into what a Chautauqua camp really was, but then again, we have an older style of living- We weren’t so dependent on large agencies.
I’m looking at the devastation, and yes, it’s horrible, but the step down from humanity is bothering me more..

  11. francinepink

Interesting from Peggy Noonan, says Obama will never own the room again:
    http://online.wsj.com/article/declarations.html

    • He doesn’t own it now….

      • Waiting for 2012

        He doesn’t even rent it.

        • francinepink

And he didn’t build it either 😉

          • Waiting for 2012

            Touche! Good one, Francinepink!

          • LOL 😀

  12. francinepink

Saw this in a comment on Ulsterman:
    <<>>

  13. francinepink

Did you hear about what Glenn Beck is proposing? Either the network and other television news company reveal their info on Benghazi or he is going to expose them because he has the proof they are covering up to protect Obama.

    • Annie's Mom

Sorry for my slowness…who would he expose them to? The MSM?

      • 212 on cable…he has a huge following…Beck is doing better then Oprah… 😀

  14. francinepink

Dick Morris has been predicti g for weeks that Romney will win in a landslide victory. Here is White House Insider’s take on how Romney wins:
    http://theulstermanreport.com/2012/11/02/white-house-insider-tuesday-election-break-down-how-romney-wins/

    • Dems breaking for Romney is a good sign…just sayin’

    • Annie's Mom

Oh my, that is awesome. That sure competes with BO’s 2,800 doesn’t it? I did notice that Bob Beckel was especially nasty today on The Five…a real sign, I think.

    • I didn’t go, I had a head/chest cold and didn’t feel like bringing my biologically weaponed self into a crowd. I want all those people well on election day.

  15. francinepink
    • Because arrogance and incompetence is the new chic… LOL 😀

      • Waiting for 2012

Because I’ve been a hard-working, responsible middle-class person for years, and I just want to find out how exciting it would be to be on food stamps and sit on the sofa all day, eating Cheetos and watching TV.

        • LOL 😀

    • I heard on the radio yesterday an interview with a 9 year old (yes I said 9 year old) boy at an Obama rally. They asked why did he want his dad to vote for Obama? The little boy said (and I heard him say it) “Mitt Romney will have black people picking cotton again”. It is unbelievable the amount of lies and deception that the left paints on anyone who doesn’t agree with them or tow the party/leftist line.

      • and his father was in the background laughing and encouraging him… nice way to teach your kid

  16. […]That’s another reason I felt comfortable voting straight GOP. It is unlikely Romney could get the results he got in Massachusetts, as blue as that state is, because of the divisiveness of Democrats today. They simply will not cooperate with him enough to do what’s right for the country, and for that reason, as well as the reasons stated above, Democrats need to be in the minority across the board. This voting season for me was a strange mix of rejection mixed with hope[…]
    http://peacocksandlilies.com/2012/10/31/i-voted-i-count/#more-7711

and Harry Reid has already made it clear he won’t work with Romney when he’s elected..Val-Jay is talking about voting to get “payback” and BO says to vote to get “revenge”. What a bunch of sickos…
    Sounds like they’re desperate

  17. Another one gets it…not to be pushy, but I did tell you guys….Dems with a conscience will break for Romney…

“James Stanton, who served the Cleveland City Council for 11 years, six of them as council president, and then served in Congress from 1971 to 1977, has switched allegiances, writing:
I supported Barack Obama in 2008 because I liked what he had to say. But after four years of painful unemployment and $5 trillion in new debt under President Obama, it’s clear to me that he just hasn’t gotten the job done. I am endorsing Gov. Mitt Romney because I believe it’s time for new leadership.”

    http://www.breitbart.com/Big-Government/2012/11/02/former-Ohio-Democratic-Congressman-backs-Romney

  18. Springfield OH…Voting is the best revenge…revenge for what? For four years of living in Obama hell?

    • Annie's Mom

      I love Romney’s response…”Vote for Love of Country”…

  19. Yep, another I told you so moment……where have they been for the last four years?

“Hillary Clinton’s former Senate state director, Gigi Georges:

“For most of my life, I’ve been an active Democrat. I am proud to have worked for President Bill Clinton and then-Senator Hillary Clinton, and, during that time, I saw firsthand what can be accomplished by strong, bipartisan leadership. I know what it means to work across the aisle on issues that are important to the American people. And that’s why I am supporting Mitt Romney. Governor Romney has a plan to restore the prosperity this country deserves and expects. He will work with people of good will no matter what their party, and he will pursue the policies that are in the best interest of our country, no matter who proposes them. That’s what President Obama promised to do four years ago. But like so many of his promises, bipartisan cooperation is just another one he has broken. We can’t have four more years of failed policies and two parties that can’t work together. We need the change Mitt Romney is offering.”

  20. Waiting for 2012

Off-topic, but I just had to…anyone remember all of the Obama memorabilia crap that came out right after the election? Anyone remember this commercial? :

I remember standing at my didning room table, dusting, and saw that guy in the pink shirt writing his bills, glancing up to smile at the plate, and thought, “If he keeps looking at that plate like that, he and the plate will have to get a motel.” Ewwwwww. “Kind, brown eyes”, my patoot.

Betcha can find them now for .25 at yard sales…

I knew the bloom was off the rose about 3 months after the inauguration. I was in a grocery store, waiting to use the bathroom. They have a table of deeply-discounted merchandise there, and there were a bunch of Obama items. Even funnier: the hand-written sign should have said, “Obama plaques”, but it said, “Obama plagues.” !

    • I spent a second searching for the ‘like’ button. I’m laughing. The plate looks like they shaved Malia’s head and painted her portrait instead. Never have I see him look so beauteous as on that plate.

  21. Carole

I am sorry I have been missing out on the birdies’ comments on here. I am back teaching and just too many tasks to do when I get home, especially taking care of my hubby, two cats and our dog and housework. It looks like loony tune California is going to Obama. We have the nutcakes in San Francisco that go all out for liberals, then we have the illegals and huge teacher associations that thrive on federal dollars.

    • srdem65

It’s nice to hear you’re working, so many others aren’t. When you get a chance, stop by and say “hey”.

      • srdem65

ooops, that didn’t come out right.
It’s nice to hear that you’re working outside the home as a teacher again, so many other teachers are having a hard time finding work. Oh heck, you know what I mean.

  22. srdem65

As proved by my awkward comment above, this is really a stressful time for me.
I can’t remember being so stressed by things that I have no control over. I fight back tears every time an update on the victims of Sandy comes on TV; I feel so sorry for them. Their lives will never, ever be the same.
And if that wasn’t too much for them to bear, 22 families will have to bury their loved ones lost in the storm. I’ve been praying that they will find some peace and solace soon.

The election is up in two days and no one can figure out what’s going to happen. I’m hoping that MrR will be successful, but as a practical person, I’m trying to keep my wits if BO wins re election. Of all the Presidential elections that I’ve seen, this is the most important one that I can remember. While I was an active Dem and our candidate lost, it was disappointing but I wasn’t afraid for the future of America and what we stand for. But now, I’m so afraid that if BO wins re-election so many bad things will happen and we’ll be stuck with him for four more years. Also, I don’t think I can stand looking at or listening to our faux First Lady for four more years.

Time for my ‘happy’ pill and hopefully dreams about MrsRomney in her Inaugural gown. I saw her today with MrR; she’s so lovely and charming it breaks my heart to even consider that she won’t be our next FirstLady. She praised her husband for standing beside her during her health problems and that he was a wonderful father to their children. sigh.

    • Be strong SrDem! It has been a very long 4 years for all of us, but don’t stop being positive. I really truly think the “sleeping giant” has awoken. I have read so many other blogs, and it appears that so many people are as disgusted as we are. I know all the Birdies (as well as millions of Americans) are praying for a victory for Romney. I wish I was over in your neck of the woods so I could give you a hug and some encouragement personally. I am also nervous, but I really feel that we will be victorious on Tuesday. I think too many people have awoken about what has been happening in DC. Don’t get down, keep your chin up, and if the election brings undesirable results, we will all cross that bridge when we get there. I am your “neighbor” over here in SoCal, and I have to say I have seen so many Romney bumper stickers/signs/etc. Hardly any zero stuff. Definitely different than 4 years ago. Don’t ever give up!!! I hope that we all can be at the tea trolley on Tuesday night celebrating a new dawn for America. Just an aside…..I wish we could have a Birdie Convention or something where we all could get together and meet. And of course that would include our other friends from MOTUS and WHD too. And any other blog I forgot. What a great party that would be!
