Fluff and Stuff

Have I ever mentioned how much I love Denzel Washington? His movies are so good, whether playing the good, the bad, or the ugly. ‘Glory’, with Matthew Broderick, has to be one of the best films I have ever seen and, ‘The Book of Eli‘ just blew me away. I absolutely love everything he has done but, today I love him even more. Denzel and his family visited the troops at Brooks Army Medical Center a few days ago. Soldiers who have been evacuated from Germany are hospitalized there, especially burn victims. There are a lot of Fisher Houses there and they are filled most of the time. While visiting, Denzel was given a tour of one of the Fisher Houses. He asked how much one would cost to build. After being told the cost, Denzel took out his checkbook and wrote a check for the full amount of the cost to build one. Denzel 2

While the LSM spends its time concentrating on the Lohans and Kardashians of the world and drools over the fashion icon status of MO (who looks more like a ballon in the Macy’s parade in her outfits rather than a ‘fashion icon’) men and women like Denzel are never reported on for their acts of kindness. He saw a need and did something about it.

In other news…city bailouts coming to a blue state near you…talk about the entitlement mentality.

The city of Detroit faces a major financial crisis and one member of city council thinks President Barack Obama should step in and help.

City Council member JoAnn Watson said Tuesday the citizens support of Obama in last month’s election was enough reason for the president to bailout the struggling the city.

Blue State Suicide ……Let. It. Burn. Talk about voting against your own best interests, read it all.

With their enthusiastic backing of President Obama and the Democratic   Party on Election Day, the bluest parts of America may have embraced a   program utterly at odds with their economic self-interest. The almost   uniform support of blue states’ congressional representatives for the   administration’s campaign for tax “fairness” represents a kind of    bizarre economic suicide pact.

Any move to raise taxes on the rich — defined as households making   over $250,000 annually — strikes directly at the economies of these  states, which depend heavily on the earnings of high-income   professionals, entrepreneurs and technical workers. In fact, when you   examine which states, and metropolitan areas, have the highest   concentrations of such people, it turns out they are overwhelmingly   located in the bluest states and regions.

‘The Road to Serfdom’ by F. A. Hayek

Everything which might cause doubt about the wisdom of the government or create discontent will be kept from the people. The basis of unfavorable comparisons with elsewhere, the knowledge of possible alternatives to the course actually taken, information which might suggest failure on the part of the government to live up to its promises or to take advantage of opportunities to improve conditions–all will be suppressed. There is consequently no field where the systematic control of information will not be practiced and uniformity of views not enforced.

which brings me to this bit of news…..

Wow. MrDanzel proved that there are some who do good things because it’s the right thing to do. , God Bless him for his generosity.

So now it comes, the “you owe us” from the Black community for the votes (honest or not) that they corralled for MrO. The word given on the down-low to all was that MrO would be free to take care of the Black community now that he doesn’t have to please any of the White voters. I don’t know what they expect him to do other than spread more and more money around and that won’t solve anything.

    • All the way through the Holy-days I’m going to find some good in people to tell all of you about.
      It’s a good mission …. 🙂

      • I like stories like this. If I catch anything in the news, it will be passed on. Denzel is also a big supporter of the Boys & Girls Club. He has said repeatedly that this organization saved him from a different life.

        • Thanks Adrian…. 🙂

    • Waiting for 2012

You may want to check this out. It’s mostly true, but it didn’t happen yesterday (I remember seeing this story a long time ago):

I don’t trust Snopes with political stuff (they always seemed Dem-biased to me, and I seem to remember they were caught doing just that), but this may well be true.

      • Well, mostly true and very glad he did a large contribution. thanks for the snopes update. 🙂

  2. Kudos to Mr. Washington.

    • I am not a movie person, but I have to agree with Lynn…Glory is one of the best movies ever made!

      • If you get the chance, The Book of Eli is one of the best films Denzel has done in a long time. An apocalyptic future and a man on a mission.

  3. this is going to be very interesting…. Politico is noticing.
Glenn Beck, Vince Vaughn to launch reality TV show

  4. Mitch McConnell….
[…]If the President’s proposal was made in good faith, Democrats should be eager to vote for it. So I’m surprised the Majority Leader just declined the chance for them to support it with their votes. I guess we’re left to conclude that it couldn’t even pass by a bare majority of votes, and that they’d rather take the country off the cliff than actually work out a good-faith agreement that reflects tough choices on both sides. … I think folks should know who actually wants to raise taxes on family farmers and manufacturers, and who thinks we can solve our fiscal problems without doing anything serious to our real long term liabilities. Democrats are so focused on the politics of this debate they seem to forget there’s a cost. They’re feeling so good about the election, they’ve forgotten they’ve got a duty to govern. A lot of people are going to suffer a lot if we go off this cliff. That’s why we assumed Democrats wanted to avoid it. We thought it was the perfect opportunity to do something together. Apparently we were wrong.[…]

    Harry Reid…..
[…]“I reserve the right to object. I just a minute ago moved to the Russia trade bill,” said Reid. “The purpose of moving to this bill is to protect American jobs. If we don’t do this legislation, we’ll lose American jobs for sure and put American companies in even worse shape than they are with Chinese and European companies. So the question is really this: are we going to get serious here and legislate or is this more of the obstruction we felt so much during this last Congress?

“The answer to that is really obvious. The answer is yes. Or are we going to continue the sort of political stunts that the Republican Leader is trying to pull today, now?”[…]

    Looks like they don’t have the votes to pass Obama’s plan…..{{{snicker}}}

  5. Go Kelly Go…. 😀
“The Senate passed the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) for FY2013 by unanimous vote Tuesday. The bill includes an amendment by Sen. Kelly Ayotte (R., N.H.) that would stop the transfer or release Guantanamo detainees. President Barack Obama has threatened to veto the bill if the amendment was included”

  6. Can’t make this stuff up….Taxpayers on the hook for Zombie Apocalypse Training….

  7. Thank you for keeping up on the news. Lately, I’ve been a little bit overwhelmed. The new renters next door to me have all the markings of a meth lab, and lately, I haven’t been able to focus on much besides work. Thank you all for keeping up with what I cannot. I sent my little dog to a friend’s to watch, as I’m leery of the chemical smells that come from the house sometimes.
This is the America my mother voted for.

    • Is there a plan to deal with the ‘new’ neighbors?
Meth labs can cause some major damage if things go wrong.

    • Just on the news…meth lab uncovered while police were delivering a warrant for arrest….
      about 50 blocks from me.

    • Now the bomb squad is there…..

      • We have everything on one side of the house- the side farthest away from the potential blast. The bomb squad was probably there due to the volaltility of the chemicals they use. The list of toxic junk used to make that junk is amazing. My dog is at the sitter’s has been there since the beginning of November, because they have two fence jumping pit bulls. I miss my little dog incredibly.
We have area rugs completely covering the floor, it looks horrible, but the chemical smell is somehow coming up through the floorboards.
I miss my little dog, and I’m angry that with those loose dogs, they’ve basically taken over the neighborhood. I’ve already called the police once, so hopefully, they got a load of the situation to investigate further. You can imagine what my decorating scheme looks like now, what with everything on one side of the house.

        • Is there an undercover that could be involved?
Did you call the Commander’s office?

          • Funny thing. There’s a policeman at the end of the block. I don’t know if he will do anything or not. The police are very aware of the sitch, though. Usually a tell tale sign is the Baby Jane Hudson Syndrome. The next door neighbor looks like an apple head doll with a preposterous cherry red wig on top, and behaves as if she’s young and lithe as Jessica Rabbit.

  8. Uh-oh….maybe that “fiscal cliff” isn’t so bad after all….just sayin’
“New York residents would suffer more than $43 billion in tax hikes in 2013 if Congress fails to resolve the so-called fiscal cliff negotiations, according to New York State Comptroller Thomas DiNapoli.

The federal spending cuts and tax increases, known as the fiscal cliff, are set to go into effect on January 1 unless lawmakers reach a compromise. On Wednesday, Republican leaders in the U.S. House of Representatives said talks with President Barack Obama were deadlocked.

“There is real danger ahead for New York’s economy if America goes over the fiscal cliff,” DiNapoli said in a prepared statement. He is scheduled to present a new report on the effects of the fiscal cliff on Thursday morning at a forum with business and labor leaders.

Taxes would rise sharply on January 1 for virtually all 8.9 million working New Yorkers, DiNapoli said in the report.

A pending 47 percent increase in the payroll tax rate would cost New Yorkers $7.7 billion. An extra 3.4 million people in the state would have to pay the federal alternative minimum tax in addition to the 500,000 who currently pay it.”

  9. I knew it!! Progs can get 1.6 trillion through a deal…or they get 5 trillion by letting everything expire…..which do you think they really want to do but, don’t want to pay for politically? That’s why Reid won’t bring the vote to the floor…..

“HOWARD DEAN: The only problem is — and this is initially going to seem like heresy from a progressive is — the truth is everybody needs to pay more taxes, not just the rich. And it’s a good start. But we’re not going to get out of this deficit problem unless we raise taxes across the board, to go back to what Bill Clinton had and his taxes. And if we don’t do that, the problem is the pressure is going to be on spending even more.”

  10. So, here’s a way to keep taxes down and create new jobs for the long run….natural gas exports….who doesn’t know exports boost the economy….they need a study to figure it out?

[…]A major study commissioned by the Energy Department (DOE) concludes that expanding natural gas exports would be an economic win for the U.S., a finding that provides a political boost to lawmakers and companies pushing for approval of several applications.

“Across all these scenarios, the U.S. was projected to gain net economic benefits from allowing [liquefied natural gas] exports. Moreover, for every one of the market scenarios examined, net economic benefits increased as the level of LNG exports increased,” states the report from NERA Economic Consulting released Wednesday.[…]

  11. Citigroup is laying off 11,000 workers…
Unemployment is up…8.3%….the left jumps for joy….

“Meanwhile, Gallup is reporting that unemployment spiked last month from 7.0% to 7.8%. Adjusted seasonally, the rate is 8.3%. This is the sharpest one-month increase Gallup’s seen in two years:

It is unclear what caused the increase in the unemployment rate in November, although some experts speculate that it was caused by jobs lost as a result of superstorm Sandy. It is also possible that lackluster holiday hiring is to blame.

Silly Gallup; floating the idea that a spike in unemployment was caused by slow holiday hiring… What a waste of time. Thanks for playing, but the media will tell us what the “truth” is and the “truth” will be that lackluster hiring wasn’t our Lightbringer’s fault. It was the fault of a hurricane that was the result of Global Warming that was the result of American capitalism that was the result of not enough socialism that was the result of the Founding Fathers owning slaves.”

  12. Climate Change Confab….a big party for the benefit of the UN

“It’s not surprising that this year’s conference has been ignored. Remember EPA Administrator Lisa Jackson admitted to me that EPA’s global warming regulations are based primarily on the now exposed Climategate science of the completely discredited UN IPCC. The Atlantic Monthly said of Climategate “the stink of intellectual corruption is overpowering.” And the UK Telegraph wrote that “This is the worst scientific scandal of our generation.”

Of course, the focus of this year’s global warming conference – like all the conferences before – is not the environment. It’s about one thing: spreading the wealth around. As the Associated Press reported, “one of the main challenges will be raising climate aid for poor countries at a time when budgets are strained by financial turmoil.”……..

“United Nations Climate Chief Christiana Figueres explained her job this way: “It is the most inspiring job in the world because what we are doing here is we are inspiring government, private sector, and civil society to [make] the biggest transformation that they have ever undertaken. The Industrial Revolution was also a transformation, but it wasn’t a guided transformation from a centralized policy perspective. This is a centralized transformation that is taking place because governments have decided that they need to listen to science. So it’s a very, very different transformation and one that is going to make the life of everyone on the planet very different.” This is the top UN Climate chief: she sees herself as the overseer of “transforming” the lives of everyone on the planet.

At the global warming conference in Milan, I asked an African delegate who I knew why he had attended and he said, “It has nothing to do with the science; it’s because it’s the biggest party of the year.” It’s time to put an end to these lavish, absurd global warming parties and focus on the real problems that we face.”

  13. “It’s the holiday season and Obama and first lady Michelle — as is routine in prior administrations — are hosting many holiday receptions at the White House each night for hundreds of attendees. These events are paid for by the DNC and are thrown for members of Congress, for print and broadcast press, for military members, major contributors, stakeholder groups, etc.

The Friday event was much smaller — for about 200 who were part of the Obama campaign National Finance Committee.”

So, why did it cost us 1.4 billion to entertain last year if the DNC pays for all this “entertaining”?

  14. No wonder O is Still sending out emails to raise money, he needs it for payback parties,
costumes for Moo, and greens fees. No one will ever convince me that he is not the most corrupt Pres. ever.
I am leaning more and more to letting us go off the cliff. It is time Americans woke up to the corruption in our govt.
Look at Cal. if you want to see what all of our states will become in the near future, and most don’t have the entertainment industry to create a false sense of security.
Cal’s immigrant population alone is filled with people who did not have the courage or smarts to fix their own countries. Now Californians are celebrating their new tax rate of 55% on higher earners. We have gone through the looking glass when we think it’s ‘fair’ to punish achievers, and hate them for it to boot.

In a different scenario, despite billions upon billions being spent on welfare programs the problems at the lower end of minority communities remain unfixable, and in some cases, more acute than ever. Look no further than Chicago for proof of this.

If there is a ray of hope, it is in places like George Zimmerman’s lawsuit against the media for editing his 911 call to make him appear racist.. I pray he wins, and wins big.
