Lynn's Little Nest

A fine site

Who knew….

Never, not ever, did I think this blog would quote Pravda but, an article caught my eye and it was a very sobering thoughtful  piece.

So it is our politicians saying that our society is full of incapable adolescents who can never be trusted? Then, please explain how we can trust them or the police, who themselves grew up and came from the same culture?

No it is about power and a total power over the people. There is a lot of desire to bad mouth the Tsar, particularly by the Communists, who claim he was a tyrant, and yet under him we were armed and under the progressives disarmed. Do not be fooled by a belief that progressives, leftists hate guns. Oh, no, they do not. [ed. note-Obama likes the guns around him and his familyand said as much] What they hate is guns in the hands of those who are not marching in lock step of their ideology. They hate guns in the hands of those who think for themselves and do not obey without question. They hate guns in those whom they have slated for a barrel to the back of the ear.

So, do not fall for the false promises and do not extinguish the light that is left to allow humanity a measure of self respect.

also from Pravda;

Thus, the Chinese government calls Obama “to use the tragedy as a reason to promote the law on the control of weapons.” According to Chinese officials, now is the best time to act so, since the president has just been elected for a second term.

They also note that although previous similar shootings did not to any serious actions, the most recent tragedy may serve an important impetus to revise the system of arms control.”

According to US-based activist and FBI informant Brandon Darby, “the current Chinese government killed from 40 to 70 million people during Mao Zedong’s Revolution. Mao himself said that “political power starts in the barrel of a gun.”

Gun control, Thought Control, People Control

The defining American code is freedom. The defining liberal code is compassion.
Conservatives have attempted to counter that by defining freedom as
compassionate, as George W. Bush did. Liberals counter by attempting to define
compassion as liberating, the way that FDR did by classing freedoms with
entitlements in his Four Freedoms.

On one side stands the individual with
his rights and responsibilities. On the other side is the remorseless state
machinery of supreme compassion. And there is no bridging this

Liberal compassion is not the compassion of equals. It is a
revolutionary pity that uses empathy only as fuel for outrage. It is the sort of
compassion practiced by people who like to be angry and who like to pretend that
their anger makes them better people. It is the sort of compassion that eats
like poison into the bones of a man or a society, even while swelling their egos
with their own wonderfulness.

Compassion of this sort is outrage fuel.
It is hatred toward people masquerading as love. And that hatred is a desire for
power masquerading as outrage which in turn is dressed up as a deep love for
others and empathy for all living creatures. Peel away the mask of compassion
and all that is underneath is a terrible lust for power. And the only way to
truly justify the kind of total power summoned by such lusts is by reducing the
people you would rule over to the status of non-persons.

This has to be the line in the sand or we’re all lab monkeys.

open thread….

  1. The flu has caught up with us (and me) but, I cannot let it keep me from debating the issue of gun control.
It is my firm belief that every American of sound mind has the right to choose between arming themselves for their own defense or not to arm themselves. Cuomo sounded like a maniacal ass in his speech on gun control and the legislation he’s proposing (running for 2016) An executive order would have zero effect on crime. Criminals don’t obey laws. It’s not about hunting, it’s about tyrants.

    • I don’t understand why Libs can’t see that the real issue is the mental health of the shooters. Tucson, Colorado theater, Newtown…Every shooter had mental issues that should have been dealt with long before they picked up a gun. Instead of finding a way to balance civil rights with public safety, fingers are being pointed again. Take a good look at the cities with high crime rates. Legal, sane gun owners are not the ones making the nightly news. Thugs, illegals and the criminally insane are! On the rare occasion that a registered, trained owner makes the news, it is because they acted in a responsible way.

      • It’s about control of the population, not anything else. An armed citizenry doesn’t fear tyranny.

      • I heard an interesting analysis in regards to the need to ban “oversized clips”. The mom fired 5 rounds into the intruder…he was still able to leave her home. What if there were 2 intruders? What then? Real life isn’t like Hollywood where one shot takes the bad guy down…

  2. “Biden added, “As the president said, if your actions result in only saving one life, they’re worth taking. But I’m convinced we can affect the well-being of millions of Americans and take thousands of people out of harm’s way if we act responsibly.””

The essence of collectivism and tyranny. In the name of “one person” they’ll do what they want because they’re “convinced” they can “affect the well-being” of thousands. Delusional totalitarian tyrants.

    • Too bad the odds of “saving that one life” is on the side of the police officer who used the gun to stop a rampaging dog. Here’s one little life saved, isn’t mine worth the count? All of the lives saved due to guns never makes the newspapers. And the stories that happen to make the newspapers are of rampaging liberals who have a “shame shame won’t mama be mad that I used a gun” attitude.
I think a lot of these Mama’ boys using guns to damage and kill a lot of people is due to the image a lot of the media give to guns. When cowboys appeared on TV with guns in the fifties and sixties, when “Have Gun, Will Travel” featured an armed good guy,we didn’t have all of this trouble. The only stand out mass shooter of that era had a brain tumor. Today, only the badass outcast in films is armed. What a message to send the outcasts.
And of course everyone in the world today is an outcast. I’d they fit in, they would lose their status as special.
I understand that the latest shooter, whose name I happily seemed to have forgotten, his mother was a gun nut, and bragged about her collection in bars. No gun collection is complete without a secure safe to put the guns in, and a lock on every trigger.

      • Certainly don’t hear about the million or so lives saved every year because someone had the foresight to arm themselves…

        • Nor will the media ever see the many times where simply revealing the gun has chased would be robbers away.

        • Waiting for 2012

Yeppers, Lynn! I always say that myself–and wish the NRA would get a huge group of people who had done that themselves ro come foreward. I once had to pull my .38 on an intruder–and he backed off FAST. That being said, I’m glad I didn’t have to use it. I will if I have to, though.

  3. “The President should not be able to act unilaterally when it comes to our Constitutional rights,” he said. “Executive Orders were meant as a way for the president to implement legislatively passed laws, not to make law.”

  4. OMG…nominating Lew is equated with “who we want to be as a country, where everyone gets a fair shot”?
    BO is so friggin’ stupid!!

  5. Many of those crying for gun control don’t even know how guns work. I had to patiently explain to someone how a semi automatic works, and why It is named so. They thought a semi auto was a sub machine gun! They don’t want to learn either. Squeamish and childishly girlish reactions to an unloaded, double checked pistol! No. You have to take it from me. You have to double check to make sure the chamber is empty. It’s basic firearms etiquette. No, do not point it at me, even though it’s empty. The muzzle of a gun is like your butthole, you don’t want anyone to see unless you absolutely have to show it. No. Don’t cry and hold it delicately twixt forefinger and thumb- you’ll drop it. I’ll send you a bill for repairs.
Acting like little sissies is getting them no where, especially as their daughters are clamoring for CCLs. The fathers of this nation simply have to man up!

    • Waiting for 2012

After the CT shooting, I did the same thing with some female libs at work. They’ve never been around guns, never mind have discharged any, but all of the sudden, they are gun experts. I think one at least, with whom I had a lengthy coversation (she didn’t know my political beliefs up to this conversation), started to understand, at least a little bit. Oh, BTW, according to her, the Constitution is “an outdated document”. No, it’s not, Jane. Freedom never goes out of style.

  6. srdem65

Everyone in my family was raised in gun-owning homes. There were long guns behind the dining room doors, hand guns safely stored, ammo kept in dry, cool closets and no one ever shot another human for any reason. No child ever “played” with Dad’s firearms.
Boys were taught gun safety and how to shoot when they reached 10 yrs or so, some girls, too.
I live in a state where “open carry” is a familiar sight; it’s not unusual to see someone with a holster or a long gun racked in the window of a pickup truck. Women carry weapons in their purses without a concealed carry license.

The protocol is; if you’re stopped by a traffic cop, you announce that you have a weapon “on board” or leave it in plain sight.

I can’t believe that America is in peril of losing the right to carry arms. I just can’t get my head around the idea that our current government wants to disarm us.

    • Obamacare may have pi**ed people off, but this, THIS is going too far….

  7. conner43

Am becoming convinced that O wants to disarm Americans before they figure out that he is a tyrant and revolt.
Meanwhile, he will be protected by gun toting men and women for the rest of his life. He will never see the hypocrisy in this because, well, he’s special.

  8. conner43

This article struck a chord with me in a way that most don’t .

    • Me too…. 🙂

    • conner43

Oh Lynn, some of us have known that for years. All of the shouting and screaming for ‘rights’ ignores the fact that if you keep your nose clean and to the grindstone and know what you are doing, any gender can succeed.
When I first started working, I lost a promotion to a suck up man. I didn’t care that he was a man, just that he was a user, and that my boss was fool. I moved on, and eventually, my boss worked for me. Karma at it’s finest.
Women and minorities must abandon the idea that they will become successful because of Who they are, and not What they produce.. Sure they can move a couple steps up the ladder, just to shut them up, and then no further.. A hollow victory when their incompetence is revealed, and it usually is, in the end, the Peter Principle still exists in small pockets of the World, although surely not in DC or in gov’t work in general..
Feel Better, I hear the most recent flu is really nasty.

      • Well, women on the left are an embarrassing lot. They’re asking men for the permission to succeed and some special treatment just because of their gender. I do not get it.
        Nasty for sure…

        • I do not understand the liberal idea of ‘feminism’. I go about what I do because I’m compelled to do it. My mind is not wrapped around showing a man how wonderful I am. Liberal women seem, to me, to be obsessed with men. Nearly all the liberal women I know are chasing one man or another, feeling imprisoned by a man, or complaining about men. The strangest affectation in my eyes, is that they dress and act like men in the work place. That’s not feminism, that’s masculinism. I particularly loathe the type of woman that claims to adore a sport simply to please the male company around her, when you can tell by her talk, she read a few articles on the technical terms to be able to wrench herself in the conversation, but has no true love of the sport.
I work in a traditionally male field. I’ve never had to be anything I am not, not did I have to alter my behaviors to get ahead, but then again, the group I work with are mostly conservative; it’s the content of character with these fellows, not the color or the gender. It’s what you bring to the table as a person.

  9. This is so funny….he was outed on FOX…phone number and email….

Re: Joe and Mika; If not for her famous father, Mika would be working at Barney’s, probably in the shoe department. All she does is read tweets from Valjar. She is never prepared, contributes nothing, and has zero charisma. Joe, oth, for all his bloviating, is knowledgeable and has a certain earthy charm.

    • If not for her famous father, Mika would be working at Barney’s, probably in the shoe department.

      • srdem65

I tune in every now and then. Mika comes across as a stupid snob who sneers at anyone not living on Park Avenue in NYC.

        • I try to fat different points of view, I turn into different stations. I had to stop watching Morning Joe because my TV was not magical. And I couldn’t reach through and slap Mika’s face.

          • She is a ditz…. 😀

        • Compassionate liberal (small l) 😀
I doubt any of the “unwashed masses” have ever brushed shoulders with Mika.

  11. srdem65

(knocking head on wooden door) so far, no flu. I hope everyone is healthy, the news about the spread of the flu is scary.

    • It’s nasty, but my head didn’t fall off.

    Funny gun ban eBay auction:

I asked the seller if it also comes in pink, for the ladies. I’ll let you know if it does! 🙂

    • What a hoot! Thanks for the much-needed laugh this morning! I like his other listings, as well…especially the model with the scope!

      • Waiting for 2012

        Here’s his reply:

“Yes, for an extra $5 option fee, I can supply them in any color that LOWE’s has in stock.

Yes, for $1000 extra surcharge, I can spin you on a turn table, so that it will auto eject from your hand at some speed.
It will fire until you fire all your rocks.
Unfortunately, the last girl I tried that with divorced me :-(.”

        Love this guy! 🙂

        • too funny!! 😀

        • Waiting for 2012

Hooray! I’m the first bidder! Not the kind of “rocks” I normally buy (hard to wear this one around my neck), but, I love the guy’s humor–and the fact that he’s donating 80% of the winning bid to the NRA. I can’t believe I’m buying a stone online. Oh well–it will make a funny gag gift for our family’s “Dirty Bingo” gag gift game at Christmas–along with a print-out of the questions from the customers!

    • LOLOL…. 😀

    • How to make a capitalist: my nephew left college to help his mother financially. He’s doing well enough to afford a little something for himself- he bought himself a lovely real camera. I made it be known that If any of his relatives touch, borrow it or break it, they will be in Dutch with me. Families raised in a socialist mindset help themselves and usually destroy other people’s things. (All families should throw the ‘selfish’ guilt trip right out the window- it destroys the will to work and earn.)
He’s now making money on the side with animal portraits. His mama’s not getting that money, that’s for investment in himself. Now he understands why Atlas Shrugged.
I’m so proud of him, my vision is impaired.
When children work and earn the things they desire, and most importantly, people respect their right to possess things, wonderful transformations occur.

      • “When children work and earn the things they desire, and most importantly, people respect their right to possess things, wonderful transformations occur.”

        Yes, indeed…. 🙂
It’s all part of gaining self respect and confidence as a person. Grounds our young ones and keeps them goal oriented. Glad to hear he’s doing so well…. 😉

Tanna, what a lovely story.. I have been texting with my just turned 15 granddaughter today.
She bought her first riding helmet this afternoon with money she earned …At an age when girls can really go off the rails she has fallen in love with horses.. She has been riding for free for the last year, in exchange for work on the horse farm..
Between her schoolwork, cheerleading and the horses, she has no time to get in trouble. Teenage angst..solved.
If her older brother, or any of her friends touch that helmet, they will regret it. I agree with you on the respect issue..

A piece on Drudge this morning links to a “brawl” at a baby shower(!) that was attended by 200+people, four arrested. It’s been a long time since I was at a baby shower but have things gone so weird that you invite everyone you know and things could get out of hand?

I just remember… girlfriends of the new mom, aunts, grandmothers, punch, cookies, stupid games, baby name guessing and opening presents…then goodbye.

fyi..btw..I was the worst game player.ever. I could never remember how many items were on the list, always crossed my legs too soon.. loser, loser.

    • I read that, too. Who in the world has a baby shower at 11:45 pm? What, 9 to midnight party time? Makes no sense… I hated baby showers!
