Best of the best…

MoochMO showed at the Oscars to open the envelope for best picture. Those bangs certainly got a bit longer. Amazing how much her “hair” grows in a couple of weeks. There should be a couple of new categories added to the Oscars. Best Actor for his portrayal as POTUS and, Best Actress for her portrayal as FLOTUS.  BO and MO would win those two categories in a NY second.  “Argo” won  best pic award. MO announced the win so BO would get credit for saving the embassy staffers. That should quiet all the talk about Benghazi and the absent Preezy who let Americans be captured and killed by his policy of “leading from behind”.

Iran is not happy with the film “Argo” which portrays the aftermath of the Islamic Revolution.

Fifty-two Americans were held hostage for 444 days, but a handful of embassy staff were sheltered by the Canadian ambassador. Their escape, using a fake movie as a cover story, is recounted in “Argo.”

The semiofficial Mehr news agency called the Oscar “politically motivated” because First Lady Michelle Obama, from the White House, joined Jack Nicholson via video link in Los Angeles to help present the best picture prize.

Iran’s state TV called the movie “an advertisement for the CIA.”

Iran’s culture minister, Mohammad Hosseini, said Hollywood has “distorted history” as part of what Iranian officials call a “soft war” of cultural influence in Iran.

But retired teacher, Reza Abbasi, who saw the Revolution first-hand, said: “I know Hollywood usually changes reality to make it attractive for movie lovers, but more or less it was close to the realities then.”

If you missed the show, as I did,   Deadline Hollywood    has the snark. “Not for the easily offended or ridiculousyly naive”.

As if Hanoi Jane wasn’t fuel enough. Oh My God – the Academy actually fans the fire by drafting First Lady Michelle Obama to help present Best Picture from presumably the White House? So unnecessary and inappropriate to inject so much politics into the Oscars yet again. Hollywood will get pilloried by conservative pundits for arranging this payoff for all the campaign donations it gave the President’s reelection campaign. I don’t understand this very obvious attempt to infuriate right-leaning audiences. Clearly the studios only want to sell their movies to only half of America.

1.5 billion in subsidies goes to the entertainment industry and there is very little to show for it except pols photo-ops with the “stars”, and the Oscar for government subsidies goes to….

About $1.5 billion in tax credits and exemptions, grants, waived fees and other financial inducements went to the film industry in 2010, according to data analyzed by the Center on Budget and Policy Priorities. Politicians like to offer this largess because they get photo-ops with celebrities, but the economic payoff is minuscule. George Mason University’s Adam Thierer has called this “a growing cronyism fiasco” and noted that the number of states involved skyrocketed to 45 in 2009 from five in 2002.

In its 2012 study “State Film Studies: Not Much Bang For Too Many Bucks,” the Center on Budget and Policy Priorities found that film-related jobs tend to go to out-of-staters who jet in, then leave. “The revenue generated by economic activity induced by film subsidies,” the study notes, “falls far short of the subsidies’ direct costs to the state. To balance its budget, the state must therefore cut spending or raise revenues elsewhere, dampening the subsidies’ positive economic impact.”

These are the Obama’s new peeps, the cronies of the entertainment industry who raised oodles of cash to help him retain his office. While they rant and rave about helping the poor and downtrodden little guy, they are stuffing their pockets with your money and living a luxe lifestyle.

Meanwhile,  Hollywood millionaires still tout their regard for the little guy while decrying  the unfairness in America. Spare us the self-righteous piety.

For  a group of people who spend a lot of time gazing at themselves in the mirror, on  magazine covers and on screens across America they are a remarkably unreflective  group of people. For all the looking they never see the  hypocrisy.

No  wonder Barack Obama finds Hollywood such a congenial place. He feels right at  home.

  1. Military as props….first responders as props….kids as props….teachers as props…medical personnel as props….all of it is about “optics”, not governing.

Michelle used a group of young servicemen and women as props for her latest high-profile media appearance, having them stand behind her as she spoke.

Mrs. Obama wore a silver, art deco-inspired gown by Indian-born American fashion designer Naeem Khan.

    • Waiting for 2012

Our Worst Lady is sooooo pathetic. Gotta be the center of attention all of the time–and doesn’t realize that most of us are laughing at her.

  2. BO is back on TV trying to scare the daylights out of us over a problem created by him and his do-nothing policies. I’m glad the MSM is finally starting to wave the BS flag on this.

    • Just heard it….what an asshat
BO got his tax hike… no more compromising

  3. ‘At some point we’ve got to do some governing,’ Obama said. ‘And certainly what we can’t do is keep careening from manufactured crisis to manufactured crisis.’

He forgot to mention he and his staffers have mfg’ed most of those crisis. Maybe he should give governing a shot and stop with the campaigning schtick.

  4. Oh for the days when we had a jelly donut for president. At least he only took us to defcon 4.
I’m tired of these little wrinkled notebook paper crisies, made up in the same vein as a high school girl recounting the latest gossip at the dinner table. Anything for attention, these two.

  5. Buying access to the WH and quarterly “meetings” with BO?
[…]Giving or raising $500,000 or more puts donors on a national advisory board for Mr. Obama’s group and the privilege of attending quarterly meetings with the president, along with other meetings at the White House. Moreover, the new cash demands on Mr. Obama’s top donors and bundlers come as many of them are angling for appointments to administration jobs or ambassadorships.

“This just looks bad–it looks like the White House is selling access,” Todd said Monday. “It’s the definition of selling access. If you believe money has a strangle hold over the entire political system this is ceding the moral high ground.”[…]

  6. YEP, absolutely the smartest and best appointed by the Asshat-in-Chief….

“John Kerry invents country of Kyrzakhstan
John Kerry has suffered his first gaffe as the new US secretary of state, inventing the nation of ‘Kyrzakhstan'”

  7. The President of the United States is now on the level of Nigerian royal family spam and those ads for various body part enhancements. Barack Obama is a spammer. LOL 😀

  8. ‘Argo’ Is Great, But 52 American Hostages Are Still Looking for Justice

[…]For decades they have tried and failed to navigate a web of conflicting legal opinions, court reversals, and changing terrorism policies. And for decades they have been thwarted by the 1981 Algiers Accords, in which Iran agreed to release the hostages and President Carter agreed to bar lawsuits by them and their families. One Congress after another has been unable or unwilling to surmount presidential administrations and court rulings that have kept the accords in force. The Supreme Court last year ended the possibility of suing under current law, leaving Congress to find a solution.[…]

Read it all…abandoned by their government (Carter) the same as our people in Benghazi (Obama). beyond despicable, both of them.–politics.html

  9. The pervasiveness of pop culture on our society cannot be overestimated. The ignorance of half of our citizens is impossible to exaggerate too. The O’s know this very well, and play to the lowest common denominator every time.
Btw, the ‘gown’ that Moo was wearing was estimated to cost nine thousand dollars..Such a champion for the underdog, isn’t she ?

    • Because the “WONS” are the lowest common denominator….

  10. Joe Wilson was right when he said “You Lie”
[…]“You take a stream of assumption after assumption, multiply it by an assumption, divide it by an assumption,” said Todd Harrison, senior fellow for defense budget studies at the Center for Strategic and Budgetary Assessments. “It’s very hard to predict with any precision what this would be.”

And don’t ask congressional appropriations committee aides to fact-check the estimates — they say the Obama administration’s estimates are so general that they don’t have enough to work with.

“We haven’t received any non-press-release information from them as to what accounts will be cut, how much, specific percentages, etc. So it’s impossible for us to confirm or dispute any of the information they are putting out,” said Jennifer Hing, a GOP spokeswoman for the House Appropriations Committee.[…]

  11. Nuff said….listen to Joey B?

    • …still laughing! Thanks Lynn, I certainly needed that. 🙂

      • Goes to show ya….taking advice from anyone in government is not necessarily a good idea. 😀
