Reality Collides with Utopia….Reality Winning

17 Democrats broke with the enviros in the Senate to join with the dreaded R-words to back the Keystone pipeline. With 2014 looming and unemployment  still at a high rate they finally came to their senses. It’s basically symbolic but, it does send a message. Those who defected are hearing from their constituents and are in fear of losing their jobs. Now they know how many of us outside the bubble of DC feel. While Obama has tried to say the Pipeline won’t produce the jobs, as has been estimated, it will still put a goodly number back into the working force.

As most of you know by now, the Obama budget hasn’t been sent to Congress. While our Preezy flies around to domestic and foreign destinations, too busy doing his campaign schtick, Congress has been busy formulating their budgets. The Dem budget submitted by Patty Murray is not going anywhere and was passed along partisan lines due to the massive one trillion tax increase and zero cuts. Increasing taxes on Americans to give it away to the countries that hate us is the definition of insane. They can hate us for free. Just think of all the countries who benefit from the borrowed dollars being heaped on the backs of Americans in the form of higher taxes by this loathsome manchild and his cohorts.

The delay of his budget is the longest since the budget process was revamped in 1921. It also suggests that he may little more than an observer to the budget talks.

This view is strengthened by an underreported event during Congress’ budget work. Even though it hadn’t submitted a budget plan, the Obama Administration did request Congress to include specific additional funds to implement parts of ObamaCare and financial services regulation. Neither chamber, including the Dem controlled Senate, honored that request. Democrats agree with the underlying programs, which indicates the funding denial is more of a parochial turf spat, allowing them to express exasperation with Obama’s delay of his budget request.

A huge political event occurred during budget talks on Friday.

Late Friday, 34 Democrats, almost two-thirds of the caucus, joined Republicans in approving an amendment to repeal a medical-device excise tax, a key funding component of ObamaCare. While the amendment is non-binding, the vote signals the Democrats are open to repealing the more unpopular parts of ObamaCare. It is a clear sign that Obama’s policy priorities are no longer an important factor in the Democrats’ political calculus.

In other words, when the political reality collides with the utopian dream, reality wins hands down.

Sasha and Malia are vacationing….in the Bahamas. While Preezy beats up on the American people and MO spends her time flying around to tell us how fat we are, the kids are having a wonderful time in Atlantis with a gaggle of their friends.

Social media, including Twitter and Facebook, have also carried reports of the First Daughters’ presence at Atlantis. One person who is at the resort wrote: “Rumor confirmed: friends saw the first daughters with a gaggle of friends being escorted to the held elevator.”

Via Twitter, another person wrote: “Obama daughters at the same restaurant as me…in the bahamas.”

Where are your kids and grandkids vacationing? Updates when we get ’em on the splash out for the Obama girls.

  1. For the first time in years, we are cutting back on our vacations. I know, I should not complain as there are lots of people who can barely afford food and housing. It just fries my ass that we the American people are who are under tremendous stress every day under this man and his horrible wife, and yet we are made to do without while they jet all over the place like royalty. Just had to vent!!

    • Yep, any other President, R or D, would show a tad bit of restraint when it comes to their lifestyle in the face of how bad the economic deprivation is for so many.
If they didn’t think it looked bad, why sneak around? Those kids have been shoved in the spotlight by their parents and now they think it’s important to hide the fact they are “spring breaking” on the taxpayer dime. Height of hypocrisy!

The Obamas have no reality of fairness or deprivation. They are going to continue to live an extravagant lifestyle off the backs’ of the taxpayers until they are finally out of the White House. They are not only hypocrits, butt they are bloodsucking worms living off of other peoples’ money and efforts. Affirmative Action leeches that have never had beads of sweat rolling down their foreheads by even one day of hard labor. Their daughters are living a lifestyle that they will expect and demand in years to come.

    • I think you’re probably right. They’ll just try to hide the fact from the public……sort of hard to do.

Interesting to note…I “binged” Malia & Sasha…2 sources for the story, the Tribune242 and The Daily Oklahoman, have both pulled the story…”page not found”.

    • Good thing Breitbart caught it…. LOL 😀

    • While America’s students stand outside the White House fence, the First Daughters, Sasha and Malia, are enjoying spring break with friends at the Atlantis Resort on Paradise Island in the Bahamas.

Breitbart News’ Matt Boyle broke the news Monday morning that numerous sources have reported seeing the First Daughters in the Bahamas this weekend. Presumably, the Obamas are paying the costs of the resort out of their own pockets. The robust Secret Service detail that must accompany the First Daughters, however, is funded by taxpayers.

  4. Speaking of reality colliding with utopian dreams….

“At least one prominent radical environmentalist has finally discovered his ideology’s trap. Or as Walter Russell Mead puts in a great post at the American Interest, “Top Green Admits: ‘We Are Lost!’”

[George Monbiot of the Guardian] also acknowledges the contradictory and inconsistent nature of the green solutions. He acknowledges that there is no prospect for democratic politics to impose the draconian limits on consumption and economic activity that green dogma requires. Every ‘solution’ the greens have come up with has a fatal flaw of some kind; none of it works, none of it makes any sense. As Monbiot concludes,“All of us in the environment movement, in other words – whether we propose accommodation, radical downsizing or collapse – are lost. None of us yet has a convincing account of how humanity can get out of this mess. None of our chosen solutions break the atomising, planet-wrecking project. I hope that by laying out the problem I can encourage us to address it more logically, to abandon magical thinking and to recognise the contradictions we confront. But even that could be a tall order.””

  5. Where is the 250 million going in Egypt? While fuel is going through the roof in the US, we are paying for government subsidized diesel fuel.

“Egypt’s government has allocated$235 million of funds to pay for imported fuel cargoes and “along queue of tankers” are waiting off the coast to discharge badly needed diesel, the oil minister said in remarks published on Tuesday.

Shortages of subsidized diesel have paralyzed transport in parts of Egypt, as the cash-strapped government faces pressure to curb energy subsidies that swallow up a fifth of its budget.

The finance ministry has approved $235 million to pay for fuel and diesel deliveries, Oil Minister Osama Kamal told the business newspaper al-Mal.

“A long queue of tankers carrying refined products are currently waiting at three Egyptian ports to discharge,” he said.”

  6. About that “apology” ….now you know the rest of the story
“Turkey, Israel and Jordan are all in the same boat as targets for the approaching large-scale use of Syria’s chemical and biological weapons.
This topic was high on the agenda of President Obama’s talks with Jordan’s King Hussein Friday, March 21, in Amman, after he had explored the subject with Israel’s prime minister in Jerusalem.
Obama presented them with his plan to consolidate into a single US-led Turkish-Israeli-Jordan HQ the separate commands established six months ago in each of those countries to combat the use of unconventional weapons.
This unified command would stand ready to launch units of the four armies into coordinated land and air action inside Syria upon a signal from Washington.
The US president used his visits to Jerusalem and Amman to tie up the ends of this contingency plan with Netanyahu and Abdullah, while Secretary of State John Kerry got together with Erdogan in Ankara.

However, this four-way military effort to combat the Syrian chemical threat could not have taken off with Ankara and Jerusalem not on speaking terms.”

  7. Time to put the ‘race industry’ out of business.

“The Supreme Court agreed on Monday to consider a Michigan law that bans affirmative action in public college admissions. …

The Michigan law bans preferential treatment toward any candidates in public university admissions.

The high court is simultaneously considering a case on whether colleges and universities can continue to give special preference to minority candidates in admissions policies, in a case involving the University of Texas. A ruling in that case, Fisher v. University of Texas, is expected imminently and will come no later than the end of June.

That the court agreed to hear the Michigan case before deciding the Texas case is unusual. The court’s normal practice is to wait until it has issued a ruling before agreeing to hear another case on a related issue. This may mean that the court is struggling to decide the Texas case, or that the ruling could be coming as soon as this week.”

  8. More reality, less Utopia…
““Mexican journalists, because of fear for their own lives and the safety of their families, are increasingly reluctant to cover drug cartels’ violence and mayhem,” according to Lee Maril, the director of the Center for Diversity and Inequality Research (CDIR), a university group that studies human diversity and social inequality. Maril recently published a piece on the topic in a Homeland Security news site. “What has occurred in recent months is that American reporters located in American border cities also have stopped reporting on drug-related violence across the border for the same reasons as their Mexican counterparts.”

That means no one really knows the true magnitude of the violence, though it’s apparent that the U.S. government is downplaying it. “It would seem that drug violence only stops at the Mexican border in the imaginations of Washington politicians,” Maril says, offering a recent example in Reynosa, the twin border city of McAllen in south Texas. A small local newspaper reporter dared to publish this: “Fear and panic filled the streets as rival gunmen battled during a three-hour firefight that saw automatic weapons and grenades used.”

For the most part American reporters have stopped crossing the border into cities like Reynosa because they are afraid, according to Maril. National journalists from major newspapers like the Washington Post and New York Times simply ignore major stories of drug-cartel violence like what just occurred in Reynosa, says Maril who monitors the coverage closely with his group of academic researchers.”

  9. This is just delish…. 🙂

“Yesterday the owner of Diamondback Police Supply, in Tucson, announced that he had returned Mr Kelly’s money because he was not buying the gun ‘for his personal use’.

Doug MacKinlay said that he plans to raffle off the gun to raise funds for law enforcement, and donate the value of the rifle to a firearms safety organisation.”

    http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2299210/Gun-shop-owner-sold-assault-rifle-Gabby-Giffords-husband-cancels-purchase-politically-motivated.html

  10. Who knew Mr Gabby Giffords was a publicity hound? He needs to stop dragging his poor wife around and let her enjoy what remains of her life. I remain unconvinced that she is truly cognizant.. My heart goes out to her.
On another topic, Lynn asked what other kids are doing for Spring Break.: In our family the older kids are Working, and the little ones are going to a Science Camp, run by the city. Another one is spending time with her Real boyfriend, the horse she leases with money she earns.
How old are those girls?, much too young to be traveling without their parents, imo. Paid babysitters are not the same thing, I don’t care how much gov’t money they have.

    • That is a little mind blower. At that age, my sister’s kids were helping their father with farm work, learning to sew, learning to rebuild computers, etc.. They had goals and aspirations and basically knew from me that you don’t get what you want without trying for it. They started to have lives of their own, in a real sense, not just vacations apart from their parents.
I don’t sense that that the children of the WH have any extraneous activities besides being walking luggage.

      • “walking luggage”….. LOL ^5

  11. Personally speaking, I really think this is a great idea. DC has become the racketeering capitol of the US. Too much waste and spending

““This legislation is a longstanding priority,” Pearce continued. “Elected officials should be in their districts, where they are easily accessible to constituents. Congress’ top priority should be constituents in our home states and districts, not the lobbyists and bureaucrats in Washington.”

The resolution says “electronic voting, video conferencing, secure telephones and internet connections, and biometric cyber security” can be employed to make Congress virtual.”

    http://pjmedia.com/tatler/2013/03/26/way-to-make-congress-more-efficient-send-them-all-away/

  12. They can still schmooze with lobbyists by phone and electronic devices, and they will. But it’s a start.

    • A good start…closer to their constituents and less waste in DC…meet 4 times a year for a week to deal with legislative bills. The closer they are to their home states the more they have to answer for. Maybe some of the idiotic bills they want to pass, nanny style, would never make it to the floor if they had to listen to their peeps.
