Lynn's Little Nest

A fine site

Lincoln -Park PoliceNot just on the National Mall, but everywhere. “The public must suffer, because the more the public suffers, the more pressure there’ll be on Congress to turn the lights back on.”

The Naval Academy Athletic Association is a private organization not funded by the government. [Naval Academy Athletic Director Chet] Gladchuk said the Air Force-Navy game could be held without any “appropriated funding.” Air Force recently created a similar athletic association that operates using private funds, donations and revenue from intercollegiate contests.

“We could run our entire athletics program and conduct events as we always do without any government funds,” Gladchuk said. “In talking to the Air Force athletic director, their football team could execute the trip without government funding.”

Asked why the Department of Defense was suspending intercollegiate athletic contests if government funds are not required, Gladchuk said he was told it was about “optics.”

Harry Reid gets his wish…..ridding DC of all those smelly tourists. Shutdown overreach: More personnel sent to WWII memorial than Benghazi; Park Service closes park it doesn’t run

At the World War II Memorial on The Mall in Washington, where veterans have been staging protests to keep it open, Washington Examiner‘sCharlie Spiering reports that at least seven officials were dispatched Wednesday morning to set up a ring of barricades to block tourists from the memorial. That is two more than the State Department had in Benghazi a year ago on the night of the terrorist attack that killed four, including the U.S. ambassador.

No, no, no, your children may not visit because….well …..just because

A Claude Moore Colonial Farm official said that the privately-funded staff is on the job Wednesday, but barred from letting anybody visit the historically accurate buildings or animals. Anna Eberly, the managing director, sent out an email decrying the decision and rude National Park Service staff handling the closure.

Pointing to Park Service claims that parks have to be closed because the agency can’t afford staff during the government closure, Eberly wrote: “What utter crap. We have operated the Farm successfully for 32 years after the NPS cut the Farm from its budget in 1980 and are fully staffed and prepared to open today. But there are barricades at the Pavilions and entrance to the Farm. And if you were to park on the grass and visit on your own, you run the risk of being arrested. Of course, that will cost the NPS staff salaries to police the Farm against intruders while leaving it open will cost them nothing.”

National Institute of Health is also shuttered. R-words have proposed funding with “no strings attached”.

Bash mentioned the fact that due to the shutdown, children with cancer are being turned away from clinical trials at the NIH and that the GOP will pass a bill today funding the NIH. [snip]

BASH: But if you can help one child with cancer, why wouldn’t you do it?

REID: Why would we want to do that? I have 1100 people at Nellis Air Force Base sitting home. They have problems of their own.

We’ve ALL had problems in the five years BO has run the country with Reid and Pelosi, but to deny children with cancer the benefit of medical care is just stone coldblooded. That’s one hell of a way to treat our children who are desperately ill and their parents who are reaching out for hope.  Now you see the real face of Democrat caring,  that’s the face I’ve come to know and despise. They are the ones who cut the food programs for the poor, tell Americans they have no right to speak out against draconian policies that cost American lives and jobs, tell us daily we are stupid and they are our betters who know what’s good for us and our families and, dictate instead of govern. Since the “sequester” didn’t cause enough pain, the Dems will use this to cause as much as possible to the American public. Obama’s approval is at 38%, with the majority agreeing he is inept as Preezy. Isn’t that what we’ve been saying all along?

  1. “Someone needs to take BO’s red crayon away”
He’s now drawn that “red line” again. He should be impeached!

    • And his canister of tim soldiers, evidently. He’s sending more employees to enforce his shutdown than there are when the parks are open.
He’s looking like like that king on Bugs Bunny that wants Hossenpfeiffer.

      • Oh yeh, bad typing, misspelled German, i was once a DEM- old habits are hard to break.

        • Also known affectionately as ‘blabby fingers’….LOL 😀

  2. Governor Walker defiant….

This is exactly what Republican Governor Scott Walker in Wisconsin has done.
The state Department of Natural Resources on Wednesday refused a directive from the National Park Service to close a host of popular state properties because of the federal government shutdown. The park service ordered state officials to close the northern unit of the Kettle Moraine, Devils Lake, and Interstate state parks and the state-owned portion of the Horicon Marsh, but state authorities rebuffed the request because the lion’s share of the funding came from state, not federal coffers. State officials opted to keep public lands open…. The agency also reopened a boat launch Wednesday at Wyalusing State Park on the Mississippi River. The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service closed the launch on Tuesday because it was on federal land. But in a sign of defiance, the DNR removed the barricades at the landing, saying it had the legal authority to operate the launch under a 1961 agreement with the federal government.

  3. All our parks are county or state run….nothing is shut down that I am aware of.

  4. From 1986….”Government Cheese”… beggars are easier to please! Audio only

  5. Found an article on the death penalty by county in the US…before they get to the actuals in the article the writer leaves out a big thundering omission…LA County has the most number of death row inmates and CA beats out all other states ….bet the dumbass leftists don’t know that it’s a whole lot higher than TX or that much feared AZ. Check out the charts then read the article.

  6. Asshats….one and all…

Laurel documented the other day the extreme language and demonization of Republicans coming from the highest levels of the Democratic Party, The new civility: Dems turn public debate into schoolyard taunts:

    1. “Unhinged” Arsonists (Wasserman-Schultz)
    2. Insane People Who “Have Lost their Minds” (Harry Reid)
    3. “People with a Bomb Strapped to their Chest” (aka Terrorists)(Dan Pfeiffer)
    4. Blatant Extortionists (Jay Carney)
    5. “Legislative Arsonists” (Nancy Pelosi)

No longer is it just the deeper reaches of the left-blogosphere, it’s the ranking Democratic members of the House and Senate, and the White House, trying to paint Republicans as criminals.

The mainstream left media also has become unhinged, like Andrew Sullivan’s rant that the Elephant must be taken down for good:
“This time, the elephant must go down. And if possible, it must be so wounded it does not get up for a long time to come.”

But it’s qualitatively different when the extreme rhetoric comes from the most senior Democratic politicians and their spokesmen, not just “the base.”

We’re supposed to respect these people? I can’t think of one good reason…..

  7. AHA…BO is so busted….

According to the poll, 52 percent of registered voters want the president to negotiate with Congress over the debt ceiling, compared with just 38 percent who said they want a straight up or down vote. Americans oppose raising the debt ceiling — 65 percent, including 70 percent of independents — but would support doing so in conjuction with significant budget reforms, including a one-year delay of Obamacare’s individual mandate, which 55 percent of voters said they would support.

Send Carney out to make more preposterous claims. Dems are on the ropes and BO is exactly what we said he was from the very beginning.

  8. The decisions of what to shut down are under the control of the Office of Management and Budget, which is directly under the authority of the White House. It’s quite clear that their instructions from the top are to use shutdowns to cause maximum irritation and inconvenience, hurt businesses which are dependent on the government, and as an unintended consequence, cause additional loss of revenue at a time when it is most needed.

They’ve even shut down fishing and not just the sport anglers but commercial fishing as well.

The Dems own this, it will bite them in the a**.
