D-ceitful D-words

A little unknown nugget in Obamacare, if you like your house, car,  or any other property of value, you won’t necessarily be able to pass it on as inheritance. Yes, if you are under the magic number and are forced to sign up for Medicaid, are between the ages of 55 and 64,  the state can seize your property/assets to pay for medical care.

Before the Affordable Care Act’s Medicaid expansion, there weren’t that many people in Medicaid who had much in the way of assets for seizing. But now that Medicaid enrollment requirements have been relaxed, more people with assets but low income are joining the program or being forced into it. For instance, a couple in their 50s who, say, retired early after losing jobs in the bad economy may have assets but show a very low income. Under Obamacare, if their income is low enough to qualify for Medicaid, they must enroll in Medicaid unless they want to buy totally unsubsidized coverage in the now-inflated individual market. … [snip]

Even the Daily Kos is having second thoughts;

This Daily Kos diarist has a nice write-up (I know) on the toll this could take on lower and middle-class people looking for relief and getting what amounts to a surprise predatory loan instead:

If someone is low income and goes on Medicaid, will Medicaid put a lien on their house?  If they need to sell their house and move, will they then lose all their equity in paying off the lien? Will people get hit with bills and liens for many thousands of dollars, even if they were healthy and hardly ever went to the doctor?

Looks as if Paul Ryan is not so dumb after all. Murray, the top negotiator on the new budget bill had to come out and explain why our veterans, especially those disabled, will lose 1% of their COLA. The uproar that created in the latest news cycle had the D-words scrambling. According to Murray the Senate will be correcting that error “soon”. Again the budget meetings were behind closed doors and done in secret. Another broken promise from Preezy. He did tell us those types of negotiations would be done in a way to keep the public informed. Another “we have to pass the bill so you can see what’s in it” moment for the D-words. Senator Sessions was not happy and made it known.

“Reid’s majority just voted to keep pension cut for vets instead of cutting welfare payments to illegal aliens,” a Sessions aide emailed.

Meanwhile, Sessions slammed Reid and Democrats for blocking amendments and ideas that would prevent the cuts to military retirement benefits, including those for disabled retirees.

“Today, Reid and his majority quashed the ability of any Senator to offers amendments to the spending deal that emerged from the House. They voted to undermine their own ability as Senators to offer amendments and do legislative work in the clear light of day,” Sessions said in a statement after his motion was voted down.

“They voted to block the Senate from working to improve this tax-and-spend deal,” he added. “Finally, by blocking my amendment, they voted to cut pensions for wounded warriors. Senators in this chamber have many valid ideas for replacing these pension cuts, including my proposal to close the tax welfare loophole for illegal filers, and all deserved a fair and open hearing. But they were denied.”

Murray argued that adding more amendments would jeopardize the carefully crafted bill and noted that, given the two-year time frame Democrats and Republicans could continue to work together to find savings in the future.

So, illegal aliens still get to rip off the taxpayer, the vets get to  pay for it by losing their benefits. Can Reid and the D-words sink any lower?

The lunatic Obamas want you to ruin your family’s Christmas. The Mom’s Meeting held to keep up the PR campaign on Obamacare , which is not working, is nothing more than a joke. People are not stupid when it comes to their personal expenses.

In a meeting with “eight moms from around America,” according to a White House pool report, President Obama encouraged the mothers to sing the praises of Obamacare while they’re out shopping at grocery stores.

Obama, speaking to the moms in the Oval Office, acknowledged that there have been problems with the roll-out of his signature health legislation, but insisted that a solid P.R. campaign will rescue Obamacare.

It will take more than a PR campaign to save Obamacare and Preezy.
