Power Grabbing

Finally, a unanimous decision from the Supreme Court says BO made an unconstitutional power grab when appointing people to the  NLRB when the Senate wasn’t in recess. Everything the NLRB has done is now illegal under this ruling; from Breitbart

Not able to get several controversial nominees confirmed, Obama waited until the Senate adjourned for several days, then declared the Senate to be in recess, and unilaterally filled all those positions.

Obama made the shocking claim that he can declare the Senate in recess anytime there are not enough senators present on the Senate floor to do business. Under that theory, almost any night after dinner the president would be able to appoint Cabinet secretaries and even Supreme Court justices for up to two years without a Senate vote.

The majority opinion in NLRB v. Noel Canning was written by Justice Stephen Breyer, a liberal appointed by Bill Clinton, writing for five justices. Justice Antonin Scalia wrote a separate opinion for the four conservative justices that took a very different view of the Recess Appointments Clause that would restrict presidential power more significantly, but agreeing Obama’s actions were unconstitutional.

I suppose the left will now call the Supremes “racist”.  Fear of that moniker being tossed around is the only reason impeachment proceedings haven’t been started. His skin color is all we hear about, while his character is sorely lacking. It’s a real shame the first black President is the worse President in US history.  He’s storming through the US like Grant’s march through the south causing mass destruction in his wake. It’s what he calls “progress”. It’s really a very good thing the Supremes did drawing him up short and embarrassing him again. You do realize BO’s feet of clay now reach to his hips since the Supremes have ruled against him 13 times already. I can see lawsuits from my house over every single decision made by the NLRB. More good news, Supremes also decided a warrant must be obtained to search a cell phone. Things are looking up. There are some ‘silver linings’. Thank you Justice Clarence Thomas.

Josh Earnest has declared, at a press conference, ‘We’re Not Just Going to Sit Around and Wait’ for Congress to Write Laws”

After all the scandals and the slap downs from the Supreme Court, one would think the West Wing would reconsider trying to do the job of Congress and enforce laws already passed by Congress. Instead, they are busy searching for a way to abuse the system. ‘What difference does it make’ if laws are on the books, when Preezy doesn’t agree with the law he just arbitrarily changes them to suit his personal views. Lately his speeches are more incoherent (if that’s possible) and sound a little frantic. BO is running around the country trying to convince the public that allowing hundreds of thousands of illegal aliens a free pass would be good for the country. All it’s going to do is cheapen labor, overload the welfare system, further dumb down the educational system, and, further erode American culture. If the Dems continue down the path to amnesty, there will be a huge price to pay. Only 31% approve of the way BO is handling foreign policy, majorities of both parties and Indies are totally disillusioned with him and his crew of incompetents. That is the ‘silver lining’ and why BO will be running around doing his best to convince us we’re wrong and he is right. If the Libs care so much about “the children” why would they support Obama? After all, he is supporting the money making ventures of drug cartels and coyotes getting rich off those very children Libs claim to care so much about. Why have those very same Libs tried to bury the fact the Obama administration ran guns to the same people who run drugs and help kids as young as two or three to cross the border illegally. It’s pretty pathetic when an administration cares more about another country’s children and not our own children. More children are living in poverty now then when BO took office. “In 2010, 15.1 percent of all persons lived in poverty. The poverty rate in 2010 was the highest poverty rate since 1993. Between 1993 and 2000, the poverty rate fell each year, reaching 11.3 percent in 2000.”

Children represent a disproportionate share of the poor in the United States; they are 24 percent of the total population, but 36 percent of the poor population. In 2010, 16.4 million children, or 22.0 percent, were poor. The poverty rate for children also varies substantially by race and Hispanic origin, as shown in the table below[4].

Children Under 18 Living in Poverty, 2010

Number (in thousands)

All children under 18

16, 401

White only, non-Hispanic

So, we really don’t need to import more when we have numbers like this. Libs can rant and rave as much as they please but, math doesn’t lie. While they have been in charge the poverty rate has gone up. It’s becoming more obvious the ruling Libs are not interested in caring for our own children or making their lives better. The highest number of children living in poverty are Hispanics. Do we really need to support bringing in more illegal alien children as well? BO and his policies have caused this mess, right along with the Dems in Congress with their “permisos’ for illegals. By using his “pen and phone’ Obama is kicking his own behind. That is the ‘silver lining’.

  1. Prior to the recession between 2000 and 2007, the number of natives holding a job increased 2.9 percent while the number of immigrants with jobs increased 28.7 percent.

Furthermore, since the jobs recovery began in 2010, 43 percent of employment growth has gone to immigrants, the report said.

“The findings in this report are shocking, and represent a dramatic indictment of immigration policy in Washington D.C.,” Sen. Jeff Sessions (R., Ala.) said in a statement. “This report also underscores the economic catastrophe that would have ensued had the Gang of Eight’s legislation, passed in the Senate one year ago today, been moved through the House and signed into law.”

Young American-born citizens have especially felt the impact of unemployment.

“Among young natives 16 to 24 years old the share holding a job was 12.4 percentage points lower in 2014 than it was in 2000,” the report said.

8.7 million native college graduates, 17 million with some college, and 25.3 million with only a high school diploma are not working.

“[Y]oung people, particularly the less educated, have not found jobs over the last 14 years,” the report said.

The Center for Immigration Studies points to a variety of factors for why immigrants have done better in the U.S. job market than native-born Americans, including government programs that incentivize the hiring of legal and illegal immigrants.

  2. The “root cause of the problem”? …seriously?

“In a statement released Thursday Pelosi stated, “The humanitarian crisis unfolding across our nation’s southern border demands Congress come together and find thoughtful, compassionate and bipartisan solutions.”

Pelosi went onto say. “We must ensure our laws are fully enforced, so that due process is provided to unaccompanied children and the safety and well-being of unaccompanied children is protected. We must also work to address the root causes of the problem”

DEMOCRATS are the root cause of the problem

  3. Betrayal is a hard thing to forgive…the silver lining in this is Americans are waking up to the harsh reality their Boy-King is a hot mess

  4. Surprising they haven’t found more of them

“Volunteer researchers have uncovered mass graves in a South Texas cemetery that they believe contain the bodies of immigrants who died crossing into the U.S. illegally, according to published reports Saturday.

The discovery at Sacred Heart Burial Park in Falfurrias came in the last two weeks, as Baylor University anthropologist Lori Baker and Krista Latham, a forensic anthropologist at the University of Indianapolis, and their students worked as part of a multi-year effort to identify immigrants who have died in the area near the U.S.-Mexico border.

Teams unearthed remains in trash bags, shopping bags, body bags or without a container at all.

    • It’s horrid that they are finding skeletal remains along the route- it’s very hot and virtually impossible for one to carry enough water on their bodies to make it through that stretch. They found the bodies by seeing the vultures.
People are risking their lives in this gambit, and to our politicians, this is just one more folly.

  5. “They don’t do anything except block me and call me names.”

Well, that would be a good thing…

  6. Obama can “borrow power”? No, he can usurp power, he can grab power, he can illegally use executive power, power is not a borrowed commodity (and it is a commodity in DC)

“I don’t know how much more time he thinks he needs, but I hope that Speaker Boehner will speak up today,” Durbin said. “And if he does not, the president will borrow the power that is needed to solve the problems of immigration.”

From whom will Obama “borrow” that power? When will he return it? How stupid does Dick Durbin think we are?”

  7. Power grabbing, money grubbing pols….all of them are responsible for the mess we’re in….all of them are playing the class warfare card and the race card…it will not end well

“The repeal of Glass Steagall was the final straw that broke the back of the world economy. That was the single worst act that could have ever been done and we are now paying the price in spades. The collapse from 2007 has wiped out even the liquidity of the markets. The second worst act was the creation of the euro when the real goal was the federalization of Europe from the outset. That undermined the entire European banking system and has led to a serious undermining of the entire global economy.

The solutions from politics will always be the same – grab more power. We are in a downward spiral of liberty and how far we go down this path to the future will be determined by the people and if they at least wise up and see this is not class warfare, it is the people against government. This is why I say career politicians are dangerous for they can be bought way too easily as Clinton was to open the flood gates for the bankers.”

  8. ‘WH report blames “corrosive culture,” bad leadership at VA for deadly corruption’

    OMG! Ya think? right along with corruption, fraud, abuse etc;

  9. Pleading …..

“The Libyan militant charged in the 2012 Benghazi attacks that have become a flashpoint in U.S. politics pleaded not guilty to conspiracy Saturday a federal courtroom in Washington.

In a 10-minute hearing held amid tight security, Ahmed Abu Khattala spoke just two words, both in Arabic. He replied “yes” when asked to swear to tell the truth and “no” when asked if he was having trouble understanding the proceeding.

A grand jury indictment handed up under seal Thursday and made public Saturday said Abu Khattala participated in a conspiracy to provide material support and resources to terrorists in the attacks of Sept. 11, 2012, that killed U.S. Ambassador Chris Stevens and three other Americans.”
