Rage Whining, the new rage taking over on the left

It isn’t productive, doesn’t have any solutions, just a lot of angst and pseudo-outrage. There is no having a conversation with the left. They become outraged when you point out facts, it takes the air right out of them, and they become more outraged that facts are getting in the way of their beliefs. The left doesn’t understand the difference between “beliefs” and “facts”. They need “enemies” to justify their outrage. That level of never ending temper tantrums has to be exhausting.

It is quickly becoming a “style of politics” that screams out for groupthink and casts everyone else as the “enemy”. The outrage is part of the every day news cycle, journalists (ahem) are also outraged by outrage on the left. They do so love to pile on the outrage to make the outraged group seem legitimate. Even our pols are outraged. Governors are outraged by a state, not their state, passing a law which would give a business accused of discrimination their day in court instead of being investigated and fined by coercive government. They haven’t read the bill, but outrage doesn’t need facts, just a belief.

Obama is the head of the perpetual outrage people. When hasn’t he been outraged over something? (it’s an incredibly long list of outrages) But, when he becomes outraged heads roll and, I do mean that literally. Think Libya, Egypt, Syria, Iraq, lots of heads rolling in those countries. His outrage has hit all of us domestically too. Our police forces all over the US have targets on their backs now due to Obama’s selective outrage. He tells Hispanics to “fight their enemies”, that would be everyone who isn’t Hispanic. He has to keep groups outraged, it’s the shiny object he uses to distract.

Most of the outrage that takes place is in the bright blue model where most of the outraged live or travel to so everyone knows they’re outraged. How dare anyone have a nice brunch with their family, can’t you see how outraged they are with you? It doesn’t matter whether you are complicit in the latest outrage or not. You have to feel and know their outrage and be silent. All the while, the perpetually outraged doesn’t see the implosion coming, they are starting to eat their own. Progressives have created a Frankenstein

These are miserable people, and very few of us would voluntarily spend any more time with them than we must: The p.c. style of politics has one serious, possibly fatal drawback: It is exhausting. Claims of victimhood that are useful within the left-wing subculture may alienate much of America. The movement’s dour puritanism can move people to outrage, but it may prove ill suited to the hopeful mood required of mass politics. Nor does it bode well for the movement’s longevity that many of its allies are worn out. “It seems to me now that the public face of social liberalism has ceased to seem positive, joyful, human, and freeing,” confessed the progressive writer Freddie deBoer. “There are so many ways to step on a land mine now, so many terms that have become forbidden, so many attitudes that will get you cast out if you even appear to hold them. I’m far from alone in feeling that it’s typically not worth it to engage, given the risks.” Goldber wrote recently about people “who feel emotionally savaged by their involvement in [online feminism] — not because of sexist trolls, but because of the slashing righteousness of other feminists.” Former Feministing editor Samhita Mukhopadhyay told her, “Everyone is so scared to speak right now.”
If everyone is too scared to speak, maybe those who are should rethink joining in with perpetually outraged groupthink and think for themselves. The perpetually outraged won’t get over it but, your life will be better without them. Nothing aggravates the left more than a happy person who ignores their outrage.
Minions have invaded. Hard to be outraged over anything  Minions Foster babies Skyler and Lana.

  1. There is nothing wrong with calling out someone for the things they say, but there is something fundamentally illiberal about a mob hounding people for every stupid tweet or making snap judgments about entire careers based on a few comments. Most often, the purpose is to chill speech. At some point, Americans decided they were going to be offended by everything. And, I guess, that’s what really offends me most.
