T.S. Eliot once said, “Half the harm that is done in this world is due to people who want to feel important. They don’t mean to do harm – but the harm does not interest them. Or they do not see it, or they justify it because they are absorbed in the endless struggle to think well of themselves.” This suggests that one way to find out if those who claim to be trying to help the less fortunate are for real is to see if they are satisfied to simply advocate a given policy, and see it through to being imposed – without also testing empirically whether the policy is accomplishing what it set out to do. The first two steps are enough to let advocates feel important and righteous. Whether you really care about what happens to the supposed beneficiaries of the policy is indicated by whether you bother to check out the empirical evidence afterwards. — Thomas Sowell
Empathy exhaustion is setting in for many Americans. Immigrants plan to protest Republican debate in Cleveland, without a permit
Rally participants do not have a city permit to protest, as is required by a new city ordinance. Organizer Don Cannon said the U.S. Constitution gives him permission to have nearly 200 protesters rally against recent statements Trump has made regarding minorities and immigration. A group of representatives of the progressive group Code Pink and members of Change.org have given city officials a “head’s up” regarding their Stop the Hate rally. A second group planning to have a presence at tomorrow night’s debate is Americans United for Change. The group is hoping to show “how out of touch, and out of date all the candidates in the Republican field are.”
The #blacklivesmatter crew will also be present. The goal is to disrupt the forum changing the focus from the candidates to the SJWs and their choice of “status victims”. So far the #1 social justice victim class is crossing the border illegally which puts black Americans further down on the List of Empathy. Maybe black ‘folks’ will wake up to the fact they are lowest on the Dem totem pole until it comes time to vote. That is the ONLY time #blacklivesmatter to the Dems. I will be adding more throughout the day on the Forum and the candidates.
